Reporting to the Manager of Promotions & Special Events, the Coordinator of Promotions & Special Events supports the Broadcasting & Game Presentation department with planning and implementing of promotions and events while assisting in overall broadcasting & game presentation efforts.  The Coordinator is responsible for development, execution and maintenance of all targeted Promotional and Corporate Partnership concepts and fan engagement programs.  This position also supervises the seasonal promotions & events interns.

The Nationals are a military-friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and spouses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Promotions & Events Execution

  • Overseeing team special events to ensure quality, maximum revenue potential and brand standards.  Duties to include: planning, staffing, budget maintenance and execution.  Programs include but are not limited to: Winterfest, Opening Day, Season Plan Holder Appreciation Day, Theme Nights, Heritage Nights, In-Park All-Star Balloting.
  • Work closely with Production & Entertainment department regarding all production and audio/video needs for events
  • Work in conjunction with Group sales on major group programs
  • Adhering to the high demand of all Broadcasting & Game Presentation responsibilities on game days & events
  • Assisting with all giveaway and promotional items to insure quality and brand standards
  • Recruiting, supervising, training, and scheduling of promotions & events interns
  • Management of Washington Nationals Jr. Nats program.  To include, but not limited to:
    • Jr. Nats exclusive events, promotions and yearly kit creation
    • Monthly newsletter communications
    • Tracking of the registration process for Jr. Nats members
    • Initiative in growing the Jr. Nats Program
    • Working with other teams to share ideas and processes
    • Game day set-up, maintenance and strike of Jr. Nats and Kids Zone area

Vendor Solicitation and Communication

  • Additional liaison between promotional merchandise vendors and team to ensure quality standards, production deadlines and incorporating teams goals and brand. 

Interdepartmental Communication and Organization

  • Collaborating with Nationals Corporate Partnerships department to help generate incremental revenue from existing business accounts and maintain positive client relationships
  • Additional support of Corporate Partnerships through the following:
    • Maximizing promotional opportunities for Corporate Partnerships and other lines of business to support revenue goals through coordination with Production and Entertainment, Creative Services and other departments in the organization
    • Attending sales meetings and presenting Nationals customized marketing opportunities when needed
    • Developing all Corporate Partnerships materials including one-sheets, etc.
  • Acting as a liaison between Nationals Promotions Marketing and other internal departments for all promotions
  • Working with departments in the organization to facilitate the successful operations of the Promotions & Events department


  • Creating, tracking & maintaining paperwork for the Promotions & Events department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area of study, or equivalent military experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with a concentration in promotions. Background in event production preferred

  • Broad knowledge of market trends and values as they pertain to event management and vendor negotiations
  • Professional presence exhibited at all times and the ability to make sound and rational decisions in time-sensitive circumstances
  • Able to prioritize projects as well as the ability to multi-task
  • Effective management of budgets, resources and production timelines
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
  • Must have consistent, punctual and regular attendance
  • Must be able to work flexible work schedule and be available to work all Nationals home games

Physical/Environmental Requirements

  • Office: Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work
  • Gameday:  Job requires employee to function in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue. May work at heights.  Employee will be exposed to inclement weather of varying degrees.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and climb up/down stairs. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds
