Job Title: Intern, WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup

Start Date: February 1, 2022
End Date: September 30, 2022
*Part-time hours up to May 14; Full-time hours May 15-September 30 (40+ hours per week). Start date is flexible.
*Candidate must reside in or near Bradenton and Sarasota, FL.
*This is a paid position. 
*End date may be modified by USA Baseball based on ongoing performance reviews.
Position Reports To: 
  • Tournament Director, WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup (Russ Yurk) 
  • Assistant Tournament Director, WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup (Anthony Cangelosi)
Position Background: 
USA Baseball was granted the hosting rights to the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2021.  (Due to Covid the event was postponed to 2022).   The organization is responsible for the promotion and operation of the event in September 2022. This position’s primary responsibilities will be to assist in creating and executing strategies to promote the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Sarasota – Bradenton, FL. Additionally, this role will manage operational tasks and responsibilities under the guidance of the Tournament and Assistant Tournament Directors. Secondary responsibilities will include supporting various USA Baseball initiatives surrounding the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup. 
Position Responsibilities: 
  • Research potential sponsorship programs, foundations, companies, and other partners that could support the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup. 
  • Help to design and execute a daily game-day marketing plan specific to the WBSC U-18 WBSC Baseball World Cup. 
  • Assist with on-site activations in Sarasota – Bradenton, FL to promote the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in conjunction with local groups and CVBs. 
  • Manage a group of volunteers to serve as the marketing “street team” in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. 
  • Work alongside the Assistant Tournament Director to implement a ticketing launch and promotional strategy to sell single-game tickets and all-event passes. 
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Tournament Director in areas such as volunteer staffing, team/staff meal planning, team/staff travel arrangements, event operations, etc.  
  • Assist with other departments within USA Baseball (media, baseball operations, retail, etc.) with various tasks as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently as this is a remote position.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Professional communication skills, both in person and via phone, email, etc. 
  • Previous event management or marketing experience. 
  • Ability to manage and balance multiple tasks.
  • Must have an excellent attitude and work well in a team setting.
  • Flexible and willing to perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Weekend availability throughout your tenure with USA Baseball and specifically available to work the duration of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup from September 10 – 19, 2022. 
Required Education:
  • Candidates must be in current pursuit of or in possession of a Bachelor’s degree.
