Internship: Internship
Start and End Dates: February 2022 – May 2022 (Flexible start date)

All USA Baseball employees will "work-from-home" for the 2022 season. All employees will be expected to work remotely during business hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET, unless otherwise directed by your supervisor or during USA Baseball sanctioned events. If assigned to work an event, employees will operate on-site at an assigned facility. USA Baseball will implement strict COVID-19 guidelines for all events in 2022 in order to protect the long-term health and safety for its employees and participants.

The Youth Programs Intern will contribute to the strategy and execution of USA Baseball’s proliferation of the amateur game efforts. This individual will be part of a team that is working jointly with Major League Baseball (MLB) on the improvement of the experience within amateur programming, increasing participation in the sport and improving player safety. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Youth Programs and will be supported by additional staff and interns who will assist in executing the department’s strategic plan.
 
In 2022, USA Baseball will work alongside its partners, Major League Baseball and the 30 Major League Baseball Clubs on the continued proliferation of new and current programming that will target three main areas; health and safety, participation and governance.  The organization will be the day-to-day lead on the operation of these initiatives while receiving logistical and financial support from MLB.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Assist in the day to day operation of the Fun At Bat program at micro and macro levels, to further take the program to scale at the national level with a focus on the after-school setting
  • Assist the Assistant Director, Youth Programs as point of contact for individual schools seeking to participate in the Fun At Bat program 
  • Assist in the planning and build out of new USA Baseball Development initiatives
  • Coordinate with other department staff on proliferation of USA Baseball’s educational resources and movement prep initiatives
  • Assist the Assistant Director, Youth Programs on youth-based volunteer opportunities within the local area for USA Baseball staff members to participate
  • Assist in the preparation, on-site and overall execution of select USA Baseball Development related events
  • Other duties as assigned by Director and Assistant Director of Youth Programs
 
Basic Qualifications
  • All candidates should have a background or interest in sports with a working knowledge of baseball
  • Candidates should possess strong leadership and communication skills
  • All candidates must demonstrate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Must have an excellent attitude and work well in a team setting
  • Willingness to travel to USA Baseball events throughout the United States 
  • Passionate about giving back to the greater community and helping kids
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to utilize existing and emerging networks within the game to achieve team goals
  • Previous youth or community-based program research and event management experience
 
Required Education
  • Completed or working towards the completion of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
