Internship: Internship
Internship Start and End Dates: April 4, 2022 – July 15, 2022

All USA Baseball employees will "work-from-home" for the 2022 season. All employees will be expected to work remotely during business hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET, unless otherwise directed by your supervisor or during USA Baseball sanctioned events. If assigned to work an event, employees will operate on-site at an assigned facility. USA Baseball will implement strict COVID-19 guidelines for all events in 2022 in order to protect the long-term health and safety for its employees and participants.

Position Reports To: Lauren Rhyne, Senior Director of Athlete Safety and Education
 
The Athlete Safety Intern contributes to the implementation of athlete safety requirements at USA Baseball events, per the requirements of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the U.S. Center for SafeSport. This position will be responsible for assisting with on-site SafeSport Compliance at USA Baseball events in Arizona. This position will report to the Senior Director of Athlete Safety and Education.
 
USA Baseball’s BASE (Baseball Athlete Safety Education) program is its zero-tolerance campaign for any type of abuse within the sport of baseball.  USA Baseball works directly with, and follows all requirements of, the Unites States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the U.S. Center for SafeSport to keep athletes safe. BASE includes reporting, background checks, education and training, and minor athlete safety policies. More information about the BASE program can be found at www.USABASE.org. Position Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the SafeSport compliance process through tracking and monitoring completion pre-event for USA Baseball West Championship events (Arizona). 
  • Assist in the SafeSport compliance process through providing on-site compliance and on-site training for USA Baseball West Championship events (Arizona).
  • Provide support at USA Baseball West Championship events (Arizona) through athlete safety education.
 
Qualifications:
  • All candidates must demonstrate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Drive.
  • Ability to manage a diverse project load, maintain attention to detail, and regularly communicate and build strong, positive relationships with staff is essential.
  • Must have an excellent attitude, communication skills, and work well in a team setting.
  • Flexible and adaptable work schedule for changing organizational needs.
  • Passionate about helping children.
  • Ability to perform some manual labor.
  • Located near Glendale, Goodyear, Peoria, or Surprise, Arizona.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in child sexual abuse and/or sexual assault prevention, public health, family services, athlete safety or compliance.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
 
Required Education:
  • Completed or working towards the completion of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
