Overview:  The General Manager is responsible for overall management, promotion and operation of the Lagoonfest Texas, including sales, marketing, booking, finance, purchasing, human resources, food and beverage, box office, advertising, security, production, maintenance, parking and related operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. 

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned 
  • Strategically organizes, develops, schedules, and supervises day-to-day operations of the Lagoonfest Texas 
  • Establishes and manages relationships of ownership, key local and regional content providers on behalf of Lagoonfest Texas including sponsors, local civic and business leaders, event promoters…. 
  • Develop and implement long-range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives 
  • Directs the development and administers the execution of operating and marketing financial plans and documents; to include operating revenue and expense budgets; capital expense plans and budgets 
  • Provides for control of day-to-day operations; assuring the coordination of plans, programs and events; conducts post-event operational and financial review and analysis 
  • Analyze ongoing activities, costs, and operations forecast data to meet business goals 
  • Aggressively promotes the use of the facility to maximize its utilization 
  • Responsible for talent buying, concert/event promoter negotiations to maximize bookings and revenue production 
  • Assures the coordination, implementation and administration of specific plans and programs prescribed by owner directives, to include: matters of training and development; quality assurance; energy efficiency; safety/emergency procedures, crowd control and crisis management procedures, or other areas as needed 
  • Assists and coordinates with the development of the annual operating calendar, activity schedules, projections for attendance and revenue 
  • Provides final approval of all contracts and agreements with suppliers, promoters, and tenants for necessary activities and services at each venue 
  • Provides or coordinates for timely and effective response to directives and requests received from internal and external organizations, agencies, departments and individuals; assures and maintains the integrity of each venue and the organization in all forms of communication and personal contacts 
  • Evaluates facility practices and recommends improvements to better reflect the needs of the Client and both venues, and/or to improve the efficiency and safety of operations, in compliance with organization’s policies and procedures 
  • Continuously improves services and the customer experience, and achieve process improvements and efficiencies 
  • Builds and maintains effective ownership, client, promoter, employee, general-public, City official relations; provide honest and trusted information, analysis and updates to the Venue owner. 
  • Utilize positive human resources policies and practices that encourage employee engagement to work at the best of their abilities by providing opportunities for professional and personal development. 
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                                                                                                        
  • Manages subordinate Directors and Managers who supervise employees in the Finance, Sales & Marketing, Operations, Booking, Food & Beverage Departments or other venue departments.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business, Sports Management,  Marketing, Hospitality or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Minimum of (5+) years experience as a Senior Level Executive in a multi-purpose public assembly facility, hotel, resort or theme park 
  • Ability to be tactful, maintain confidentiality, and foster an ethical work environment; handles all situations with integrity; able to develop policy and guidelines; communicates and enforces organizational policies and procedures. 
  • Prior responsibility for daily P&L management and budget oversight responsibility of 5MM or greater. Prior experience managing a sales staff with revenue goals of $4MM or more 
  • Proven management and leadership experience in the sports, entertainment, recreational and or hospitality industry 
  • Programming knowledge of  leisure and recreational activities, various sports leagues, clinics, and tournaments 
  • Skilled at identifying and creating opportunities to deliver revenue goals 
  • Prior experience in contracting or overseeing/managing others who sold corporate sponsorships, group sales, tournaments, leagues, camps, concerts, family shows, corporate events and other related services 
Skills and Abilities 
  • Exceptional organizational skills required. Must be able to oversee complex projects and schedules, maintain deadlines, work within budgets, with the ability to set priorities and manage several projects simultaneously required 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to synthesize and accurately present relevant information 
  • Work independently to develop new special events from conceptualization to execution 
  • Must have the ability to manage in a fast-paced, diverse environment with focus on Client and Guest Services, entrepreneurship and building & growing a strong business is essential 
  • Ability to successfully manage a workload that balances long-range planning with the unanticipated daily demands of Marketing required. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results 
  • Handle conflicts, make decisions and exercise proper action during high tension and stressful situations. Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur 
  • Maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with City officials, clients, employees, promoters, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment 
  • Requires ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours 

Computer Skills     
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Booking software with ability to learn and master new applications
