OVG facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Carpenter 1 at the Legacy Sports Park opening in January of 2022. Legacy Sports Park is a 320-acre multi-use family, sport and entertainment complex of outdoor and indoor team athletic facilities geared toward high-energy entertainment and sports in Mesa, Arizona.

Overview

Seeking team-oriented individuals that will be responsible for assisting in the facilities planning, coordinating, execution and general carpentry needs within the facility. This position will be guest facing at times and requires the ability to communicate and engage with the public with a laser focus on delivering a world class guests experience.

The Carpenter 1 working under Facilities Engineer and lead Carpenter, partnering heavily with internal/external partners and department heads for operational and facilities covering the needs for general facility service, coordinate and participate in venue set ups, strikes and conversions to ensure events are show ready while delivering an exceptional guest experience for a diverse group of guests/clients in the youth, amateur/collegiate, professional, and special events space.

Responsibilities

Inspect for quality of Carpentry and general facilities repair.
Exhibit and deliver exceptional guests services to all Legacy Sports Park visitors, users, vendors, and internal partners. Participate and at times lead guests’ services meetings and training sessions.
When directed by Facilities Engineer and Lead Carpenter, set up pre-event set up while supporting fabricating and facility needs
Promote, build, and maintain good customer relations.
Install or Repair assigned Work Orders
Follow/uphold all safety standards.
Participate with all preventative maintenance service and programs while documenting all required updates.
Help integrate preventative maintenance schedules and guidelines
Safely perform lockout/tagout procedures.
Have the ability to make immediate decisions and communicate with all users of the facility in an emergency situation
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Participate in scheduled on call emergency calendar covering weekends and after hours.
Assist in major repairs and upgrades and participating in large-scale maintenance duties as part of the operations team.
Documenting procedures, processes, and best practices in on-plan sets and end-user manuals or modifying what has previously been documented.
Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled predictive maintenance checks following manufacturers’ recommendation and/or as assigned.
Install and repair restroom partitions, carpet, tiles, doors & frames, and concrete repair.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
2+ years apprenticeship in the carpentry and general fabricating field or 2 years field experience.
Related experience and/or training as a Carpenter
Vast and proven understanding of Carpentry and fabricating
Ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required
Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while communicating with management and team members.
Good communication skills with self-starter willingness to take initiative while working in a team environment.

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Work hours may vary -- Ability to work irregular hours during events, including nights, weekends, and holidays on a scheduled “on call.”

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software

Operate standard office equipment including printer, copier, computer and fax machine.

This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical demands:

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in- person with others to exchange accurate information.

Work environment:

The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event time
