Summary:

The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of facility maintenance. Insures that all facility equipment, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical plants; lighting and climate control systems; roofing systems; telecommunications, food service and maintenance / cleaning equipment is operating properly and efficiently, and maintained in good condition. Oversees general facility maintenance; and proper delivery of event-related utility services. Performs the following duties personally or through a subordinate.

Responsibilities of this Position:

Ensures proper and efficient operation of central Building Management System (BMS)

Schedules, coordinates and supervises / monitors general maintenance of facility.

Develops an emergency action plan for system malfunctions or breakdowns; develops corrective actions and solutions.

Provides technical support, oversees and/or assists with repairs and maintenance of all facility systems and equipment.

Ensures proper utilization of the building CMMS systems.

Acts as contact for suppliers, contractors and vendors.

Ensures adherence to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.

Analyzes needs and plan preventive maintenance programs and upgrades for systems.

Directly supervises employees in the Engineering & Maintenance Department.

Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Ideal Candidate will have

Associates, Trade Licensed (like HVAC tech, or Electrical license), OR 5+ years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a large building, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing
Specific licensing in the trades (plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, carpentry, etc.) is preferred.
OSHA training is preferred.
Excellent organization skills
Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management
Ability to effectively supervise staff
Strong customer service skills
Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
Ability to work irregular / extended hours, including night and weekend duties is required
Sufficient computer skills to operate BMS / other automated systems.
Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member
Requires ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours

Physical Demands

This position requires heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling and equipment operation. The position requires work both indoors and outdoors and is subject to adverse conditions.
