Overview
Under general direction, manage and direct advanced journey level and leadwork duties in the technical operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC system, electrical generating equipment and auxiliary systems of a widely dispersed building complex with numerous individual physical plants; performs related work as required.
This role will pay a wage of $85,000 to $115,000.

Responsibilities

Manage all AFSCME engineering staff involved in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, event setup, and other technical services. Train staff as needed.
- Develop, maintain and manage operating procedures relating to the engineering department
- Review and recommend day-to-day operational policies and procedures for the Engineering department
- Research, review, and recommend equipment, materials, and supplies required for the Engineering department
- Oversees the operation, maintenance and repair of plant equipment and auxiliary systems; recommends operational methods and procedures
- Monitor diesel powered electrical generator to provide emergency electrical power during power outages or curtailment
- Participates in the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, minor electrical and plumbing repairs to expedite the return of equipment or auxiliary systems to operational status
- Manage set-up and operation of basic IT equipment including minor ethernet connections, switches, display panels, network cabling, UPS, and camera systems
- Track daily productivity via allocation sheets, daily logs, and maintenance management system
- Clearly, effectively, and timely communicate work issues with staff
- Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients
- Manage engineering requirements for all XL Center events
- Assist in managing/developing department operating budget and capital expenditure plans
- Assist in the review and managing of contractor projects and service contracts
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations
Qualifications
- Three to Five years (3-5) years of increasing responsibility in facility operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, conversion, and other technical services.
- High school diploma required. College degree preferred.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize quickly
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Working relationship with unions a plus
- Knowledge in determining and coordinating logistical needs for very large events, preferably in a large sports arena or event facility
- Proficiency with general office PC applications
- Knowledge with Building Management Systems and Software
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with attention to detail
- Applicants must be proactive self-starters able to work autonomously
- Demonstrated sound organizational, coordinating and personal interface skills
- Possession of Universal CFC license highly desirable
- Must have availability to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
