Overview

The art of meeting begins at the iconic Miami Beach Convention Center; where global business and creative collaboration get a spark of tropical inspiration. We are currently looking for a Full Time Utility Worker to join our team!

 

Nestled in the heart of Miami Beach, the state-of-the-art convention center offers flexible special event and exhibition spaces near beautiful beaches, fine dining and 5-star resorts. This position is responsible for performing janitorial, housekeeping and set up tasks as directed by the Event Operations Manager and/or Event Services Supervisor.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs janitorial tasks, including restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, trash removal and other duties as directed by the Floor Supervisor.
  • Operates mechanical equipment including scrubbers, floor machines, shampoo machines, and sweepers as needed.
  • Assists in bringing problem areas to the attention of the Floor Supervisor.
  • Assists the Floor Supervisor in identifying ways to increase efficiency and productivity within the facility.
  • Performs set-ups and breakdowns of meeting rooms/halls respective to tables, chairs, staging requirements as needed by the client.
  • Ensures proper care and use of facility equipment and supplies.
  • Other duties and responsabilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent desired.
  • Knowledge of basic janitorial and safety procedures, as well as standard public assembly facility standard room set-ups.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Knowledge of basic janitorial and safety procedures, as well as standard public assembly facility standard rooms’ set-ups.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions from Floor Supervisors.
  • Ability to work with detail and efficiency.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • No certifications are required.

While performing the responsibilities of the Utility Worker, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is constantly required to exert various types of physical exertion, such as prolonged reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting. The Utility Worker works in indoor and outdoor work settings with mild to adverse exposure to environmental hazards.  The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders and walk long distances to access all areas of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to loud. Incumbents in this position work in varying settings and will be subject to noise and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dust, etc.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

Must have flexible available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed based on teh schedule demands and business needs.
