Position Overview: This position is responsible for supervising the security staff, as well as maintaining orderly and professional security operations at all times with the aim of ensuring that Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s employees and property and Capital One Arena patrons and visitors are safe at all times, while preventing theft, assaults, gate-crashing, disorderly conduct and damage of property.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Manages security staff, ensuring standard operating procedures are met in a timely and professional manner at all times.
  • Coordinates shift/event security personnel assignments, to include break times, lunches and additional duties as deemed by management.
  • Issues disciplinary/counseling statements as necessary and informs Security Manager/Director accordingly.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance/departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to, and maintain security of, the premises.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Inspect security systems, equipment, to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
  • Maintains the time clock for their appropriate shift, ensuring officers are clocking in and out.
  • Monitors all access control and CCTV systems throughout the building from Security Control.
  • Patrol interior and exterior premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. Using The Pipe Patrol system.
  • Protects participants at an event from overzealous spectators and permits only properly ticketed guests.
  • Preventing the resale of tickets or any type of unauthorized solicitation inside of the arena.
  • Responsible for detaining individuals as authorized by D.C. Code §23-582, based on probable cause for an offense committed in his or her presence on the premises, or in the aid of a police officer or other persons authorized to make arrests.
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Locks and unlocks entrance doors and all exterior doors, ensuring that all locks and chains are secured, panic bars locked down and Detex alarms are active when event dictates.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with every department within Monumental Sports & Entertainment.
  • Collects and maintains all Lost and Found during their shift and ensures that it is delivered to the appropriate area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years security experience (2 years Supervisory).
  • Be able to obtain & maintain an active Special Police Officer Commission from MPDC Security Officers Management Branch.
  • Preferred to have Current First Aid / CPR / AED Certifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.
  • Available to work flexible 40 hours a week schedule as needed.
  • Available for On Call assignments as needed.
