The Security Control Specialist serves as a critical communication and coordination hub for all security operations. This role is responsible for monitoring communications, dispatching personnel, supporting emergency response efforts, and serving as the backup and operational support at the Employee Entrance (EE). The specialist ensures a professional, safe, and responsive environment across the facility at all times.
Key Responsibilities:Security Dispatch Operations
Monitor emergency lines, security radios, and surveillance feeds to detect and respond to incidents.
Evaluate and prioritize incoming calls or alerts; classify threats as High, Medium, or Low based on situational analysis.
Dispatch appropriate security personnel based on incident type, skill level, and proximity.
Coordinate with emergency services (police, fire, medical) to ensure swift and effective response to critical situations.
Maintain and test communication systems regularly to ensure operational integrity.
Reporting and Documentation
Maintain accurate records and logs of all calls, dispatches, incidents, and security responses.
Document the use and return of radios, key sets, lost and found items, and deliveries.
Submit daily shift reports and incident summaries as required.
Employee Entrance (EE) Operations
Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, contractors, and visitors entering the facility.
Enforce bag check policy, manage sign-in/sign-out procedures, and issue "wristbands of the day."
Log and track all security radio/key issuances, deliveries, and parking validations.
Use the public announcement (PA) system to communicate emergency alerts and routine notifications to attendees and staff.
Emergency Support & Coverage
Act as backup for Security Control during breaks and high-traffic events.
Be fully trained to operate all Control Center functions including radio coordination, PA system usage, emergency notifications, and surveillance system monitoring.
Assist in fire alarm procedures, emergency evacuations, and internal/external incident communications.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or related field preferred.
Licensing: Valid BSIS Guard Card (California or equivalent).
Experience: 2+ years in a security dispatch, control room, or front-line security operations role.
Technical Skills: Proficient with radio dispatch systems, Microsoft Office, visitor management systems, and surveillance technologies.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively across multiple channels.
Decision-Making: Calm under pressure with the ability to make quick, informed decisions during emergencies.
Professionalism: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; must project a professional image to all guests and staff.
Availability: Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and during large events.
CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
Experience working in large event venues, hospitals, or corporate campuses
Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) a plus
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Ability to remain alert and attentive during long shifts
Clear speech and hearing for effective communication over radios and phones.
This position operates in a 24/7 security environment. May involve prolonged periods sitting at a dispatch console, standing at the employee entrance, and responding to incidents throughout the facility.
