Facility Operations/Event Staff: Security
 The Security and Safety Manager directs, supervises and coordinates the day-to-day security and safety operations of the venue, Ensures the safety and security of guests, staff, and property of the venue. This position will respond to incidents involving guests and staff, patrol the property to ensure the security of the property, investigate complaints/crimes/accidents, respond to medical incidents and prepare incident reports. Ensures the venue and property is meeting the proper Security Standards and is in compliance with local, state, and federal laws by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff:
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned 
  •  Develop, implement, and maintain a pro-active security and loss prevention program designed to insure a safe and secure environment for patrons and staff 
  • Design programs to increase and lead security and loss prevention awareness programs 
  • Oversee Security Operations; emergency response, investigations, dispatch, patrols, and safety 
  • Investigate crimes, complaints, and accidents that occur on the Fairgrounds and prepare accurate written reports describing the events 
  • Properly document, update, maintain and communicate all departmental policies and procedures in a clear and orderly manner 
  • Develop and review emergency response and crisis management procedures (Fire, Flood, Natural Disasters, Civil Disturbances, etc.) and conduct periodic training exercises related to such procedures 
  • Must adhere to and comply with all NBA security guidelines pertaining to the G-League basketball association 
  • Maintain, train, operate, and monitor use and implementation of all CCTV, access control, radio and emergency communications, and backup systems 
  • Establish policies and maintaining records related to the venue access controls, including the issuance of daily, seasonal, and year-round credentials to employees, vendors, and media 
  • Responsible for Health and Safety program implementation and documentation in accordance with OSHA regulations 
  • Review security needs and implement security detail for events and high profile guests 
  • Assist with code compliance inspections of the facilities and ensure all licenses and permits are current and up to date. Assist with properly maintaining life/fire safety systems 
  • Liaison with local, state, and federal law and code enforcement officials to include the Office of Emergency Management 
Coordinate Safety Committee that incorporates all departments.
Manages the supervision of staff within the Security Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Security Management or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years security or law enforcement experience, preferably in a sports and entertainment venue in an operationally guest focused role 
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in managing security or law enforcement staff 
  • Working knowledge of Crowd Control Management 

  • Exceptional conflict resolution and precise decision making skills 
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required 
  • Self-motivated with strong client relations and staff management skills 
  • Must have the ability to manage in a fast-paced, diverse environment with focus on Client and Guest Services, entrepreneurship and building & growing a strong business is essential 
  • Maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with City officials, clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment 
  • Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic 
  • Requires ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office with ability to learn and master new applications.
‘Non-Commissioned Security Officer’ designation, or ability to receive on within 90 days of employment.
