      <description>Miracle on Ice:  ESPN?s most popular winning film clip was the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics where the United States hockey team, made up of collegiate hockey players, surprisingly won the gold medal.  

The United States Hockey League is carrying on the tradition of developing our young amateur hockey players to become these same collegiate players and even stars in the National Hockey League.  In fact, the USHL is America?s only Tier 1 amateur hockey league and it has been consistently feeding young players to Division 1 college hockey programs and the National Hockey League Entry Draft.  In the last five years, nearly 140 players with ties to the USHL have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft, a number which includes 11 first-round selections. In 2003, Vanek&apos;s No. 5 overall selection marked the highest that a former USHL player was ever chosen in the draft. In 2005, a record 26 USHL players were selected by NHL clubs - including a record-tying three taken in the first round - far outdistancing any other American development program. It also marked the first time that a United States-based junior league produced more NHL draft picks than a Canadian major junior league, as the USHL&apos;s total of 26 outpaced the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League&apos;s 23.

In 2006, 20 current and former USHL stars were selected by NHL teams, led by a pair of Des Moines Buccaneers. Qualifications:
Because the intern will be dealing with executives from our 500+ client teams/organizations in the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, etc., we expect prospective candidates to be extremely mature, dedicated, outgoing, possess objective analytical skills, and be committed to servicing clients and the staff.  The successful candidate should be committed to a career in sports business.  Attention to detail and a competitive drive are both crucial characteristics to possess.  This position requires excellent skill in computers and telephones, so exceptional communication skills are a necessity.  The ideal candidate will have outstanding proficiency in such programs as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and especially Outlook.  Candidates who have a basic knowledge of FTP servers and HTML/web design are preferred.

 

Compensation:
This is a paid internship.  Candidates may receive college credit if applicable.
