COMPANY BACKGROUND
The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park.   The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.  
 
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Vice President of Human Resources (HR) provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organizations HR operations. The Vice President is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. The Vice President of Human Resources will orchestrate and drive continuous growth throughout the organization, through talent and performance management, leadership training/development, employee engagement, change management, employee relations, compensation, succession planning, benefits administration, talent acquisition and onboarding, and policy creation and compliance.   
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drives HR solutions/programs based on assessment, feedback, and data that will positively impact employee morale, engagement, and organizational effectiveness. 
  • Manages complex Employee Relation issues including facilitated meetings and conflict resolution, complaints, investigations, disciplinary procedures, and terminations. 
  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and talent management through the implementation of policies, procedures, and training. 
  • Manages and oversees benefit and wellness program administration (Health, Dental, Vision, Retirement Plan, STD, LTD, Life/AD&D, and COBRA) for employees, including all employee communication, problem-solving, and claims resolution. Researches and implements new supplemental benefit programs as needed. Develops and executes talent recruitment and engagement strategies centered on attraction, development, productivity, and retention. 
  • Develops and facilitates succession and workforce planning with leadership. 
  • Conducts organizational compensation analyses and strategic planning to support organizational initiatives. Manages organizational staffing budget and forecasting in addition to departmental budget. 
  • Supports and furthers the Club’s mission and its commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Oversees maintenance of department and employee records and reports including organizational charts and employee directory.  
  • Works closely with the finance department to validate payroll. 
  • Provides guidance, support and leadership to the HR Department and their day-to-day functions, while fostering growth and development. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field – Required. 
  • Master’s degree -Highly preferred. 
  • 8-10+ years of human resource management experience, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience - Required. 
  • Superior knowledge of employee benefits, retirement plan compliance, and other compliance laws and best practices/procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of HR local, state, and federal employment and compliance laws and regulations. Proven track record of handling complex employee relations issues. Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Forms & PowerPoint) skills.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and requirements – Preferred. 
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other relevant certification –Highly Preferred.

  • Must be proficient with computers and MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, & Outlook.
  •  The position is required to be in office, Monday-Friday, although some travel between local locations will be required.
