Overview

Columbus Crew is seeking an Academy U18 Coach to lead the on and off field coaching, education, and development of the club’s U18 players. This position is based in Columbus, OH and requires frequent travel. In performing the underlined duties, the Academy U18 Coach will play a key supporting role in the successful implementation of the club’s mission and ‘One Club’ mantra.  The candidate will also have a vital role in the development and monitoring of elite soccer players within the Columbus Crew Academy.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop professional soccer players for Columbus Crew.
  • Coach, organize, and supervise players for Academy matches and training sessions.
  • Following the club’s framework create weekly, monthly, and seasonal periodization plan for U18 Academy team.
  • A proactive approach to daily/weekly planning sessions, sharing feedback and providing recommendations.
  • Complete Individual Development Plans in the club template for each player within the U18 squad, in conjunction with other contributing departments. Ensure these plans are recorded and tracked using the club’s online platform.
  • Deliver player evaluations in the framework and cadence as directed by the club.
  • Utilize club player and training administration technology platform as required by the Club and Academy, including the daily input of sessions and evaluations of players and the creation, and recording of reports on the system.
  • Provide match reports regarding team and player performance.
  • Utilize club video platform and tools and assist in team video analysis of training and matches.
  • Assist in the talent identification and scouting process for the Academy.
  • Attend, assist and support other Crew teams and events as requested by Director of Player Development.

Requirements

  • U.S. Soccer A’ License or foreign equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years coaching experience at Academy or equivalent level.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a high performing environment.
  • Available to travel when necessary and work evenings, weekends, and holidays with some irregular hours.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Expertise with video editing software and visualization.
