Loading Dock Supervisor - United States Tennis Association (Flushing, NY)

We are seeking Loading Dock Team Supervisor to play an essential role in the US Open experience. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering US Open packages and mail to all USTA offices and departments.

  • Greet and guide all guests in a welcoming and friendly manner
  • Ensure non-smoking rules and other public safety concerns are responsibly handled and enforced
  • Respond to guest concerns respectfully and calmly
  • Report unattended bags and packages
  • Maintain a positive, outgoing demeanor adhering to the core expectations of our guest services team at all times
  • Assist with guest control
  • Manage and resolve conflicts by following the USTA policies and procedures
  • Ensure staff take their appropriate break without affecting coverage
  • Report medical situations, incidents, or emergencies immediately to the command center
  • Responsible for supervising a team of five employees
  • Ensure all mail trucks are unloaded in a timely and efficient manner
  • Scan all incoming packages into in-house shipping/receiving software
  • Organize incoming and outgoing packages by carrier
  • Ensure all US Open packages and mail are delivered to USTA offices and departments
  • Clean and organize USTA Loading Dock, Loading Dock Office, and the surrounding area
  • Ensure a safe working environment for Loading Dock employees and USTA staff
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Coordinator, Facility Events

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisor experience
  • Must take initiative and be able to motivate a team
  • Previous guest or customer service experience
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs
  • Ability to lift 50lbs+
  • Punctual and presentable shift attendance, neatly groomed in a clean, well-maintained uniform
  • Must be available to work for the full duration of the US Open tournament (approx. 3 wks)
  • Must be available to work 12+ hour shifts and be available days, nights, and weekends
  • Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously for extended periods of time
  • Must have excellent communication skills with thorough understanding of written and spoken English
  • Personable and proactive team player with excellent communication skills (vendors/sponsors / guests)
  • Remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment and during stressful situations
  • Expected to learn locations within Arthur Ashe Stadium and the US Open grounds
  • Forklift experience required
  • Driver’s license preferred

Courts Manager - USTA (Orlando, FL)

Purpose of Position:

 Overall responsibility of maintenance, grounds, & landscaping staffs and cleaning staff.

Major Duties:

  •  Provide direction and supervision of employees involved in landscaping cleaning maintenance of the facility.
  • Supervision of Landscaping related maintenance projects as assigned by Sr. Director, Facility Operations.
  • Oversee care and maintenance of HOAT equipment and inventory.
  • Order and maintain proper inventory for facilities needs and requirements (e.g. cleaning equipment, landscaping equipment etc.)
  • Adhere to department budgetary parameters between labor, service and equipment expenditures.
  • Train workers in job duties and safety precaution.
  • Responsible for working with NC HR department to maintain staffing levels necessary for successful operation of department.
  • Monitor and/or plan projects completed by outside vendors.
  • Work with the Events department to make sure that all event needs are met.
  • Working with Sr. Director, Facilities to be the subject matter expert and advise on all cleaning and landscape matters as it relates to Capital Projects. Including involvement in the planning, construction and close out of each cleaning or landscaping related project.
  • Manage payroll for department.
  • Other duties assigned by Sr Director, Facility Operations

Qualifications / Other:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Management or related field
  • 3+ years landscaping and cleaning maintenance experience
  • 5+ experience In court maintenance with a staff of 4 or more
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance/cleaning work
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in computer programs i.e. MS Applications (Excel, Word)

This job will require that the person is able to perform physical work such as carrying heavy loads, climbing ladders of high altitude, cutting the lawn, digging and general maintenance type procedures. The job will on occasion be physically demanding.

Facility/Venue Operations/Security: Grounds Crew/Turf Management
Red Clay Court Specialist - USTA (Orlando, FL)

Purpose of Position:

 Responsible for daily maintenance and upkeep of the Player Development Red Clay Courts at the National Campus.

Major Duties:

  •  Responsible for overall playability of the red clay courts as well as all other PD courts.
  • supervise PT labor to assist in all PD court needs 
  • Daily preparation of courts.  Including sweeping, lining and watering.
  • Repair and maintain courts to insure consistency throughout the eight courts.  Including but not limited to adding red clay, repairing lines, nets, rolling courts, and controlling sprinkler systems.
  • Maintains courts grounds, windscreens and court equipment.
  • Strong manual labor such as carrying heavy loads (80+ lbs.), using drag mats, hose, spreaders, tennis court preparation, etc.
  • The job will on occasion be physically challenging.
  • Equipment maintenance: maintain proper use, storage placement, etc.
  • Keeps grounds neat and clean with daily checks.
  • Properly stocks and stores facility items (i.e. nettings, center straps, benches, etc.)
  • Aids in preparation of facility for the National Campus. Maintain courts and grounds in such a way that allows us to improve upon our reputation as a leading, world-class tennis facility

Arrives for the shift on time, neatly groomed, and in a clean, pressed, well-maintained uniform.

Qualifications / Other:

  •  Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • High energy level and strong work ethic, with strong “can-do” attitude

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills
