Public Relations Manager - White Plains (White Plains, NY)

We are seeking a Public Relations Manager for Eastern Section to nurture a strong industry network and to increase tennis participation within the USTA Eastern section by developing and executing an effective media relations programs.

Responsibilities:

  • With manager direction, develop a communications plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics
  • Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within industry media
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests
  • Help to plan and execute social media strategy
  • Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis
  • Build relationships with thought leaders to grow industry awareness
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them
  • Help to plan and execute key section events including the Eastern Tennis Conference and Hall of Fame

Requirements:

  • Proven working experience (5-8 years) in public relations required
  • Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at the local level
  • Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Event planning experience
  • BA/MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline

Communications: Media/Public Relations Servicing
Broadcast Relations Coordinator - WTA Tour (St. Petersburg, FL)

Summary:  Based in St. Petersburg, FL, the Broadcast Relations Coordinator will act as the on-site broadcast representative at selected tournaments throughout the season. The Broadcast Relations Coordinator will support the goals of the wider Marketing and Communications team and will be responsible for the creation and ongoing maintenance of a variety of documents and reports. This role will require a significant amount of international travel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily maintenance of WTA Broadcast's online resources ensuring information is always up to date.
  • Track volume and level of television production from each WTA tournament.
  • Create supporting documents to achieve the above using Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Maintain the online Where to Watch page ensuring information is always up to date.
  • Support Manager of Broadcast Relations in broadcaster outreach and servicing.
  • Manage WTA Media requests for various WTA tournament and player information.
  • Assist with the management and administration of the WTA archive when required.
  • Represents the WTA in all broadcast matters with the tournament.
  • Works with WTA Media / Host Broadcaster to ensure that all broadcast needs and obligations are being met.
  • Represents the best interests of Rights Holders in daily scheduling meetings. 
  • Facilitates cooperation between WTA Media, WTA Networks and WTA Communications relating to player access and filming opportunities.
  • Provide administrative support to the SVP Communications & Marketing and the wider MarComms team when required.

Desired Skills & Background

  • Bachelor's degree and two years’ work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Tennis background/knowledge preferred
  • Outstanding customer relations with a mindset of service towards tournament members and broadcast partners
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills
  • The ideal candidate will also possess a passion for and understanding of the sport of tennis, related governing bodies and industry stakeholders
  • Must be able to travel approximately 30%.
