Business Description

The Boca Raton Regional Hospital Championship is a professional golf tournament on the PGA TOUR Champions circuit. The tournament will be held February 5-11, 2018 at The Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton, Florida. Our management group, ProLinks Sports, also manages two other PGA TOUR Champions events, two PGA Tour events and has managed several past US Senior Opens. South Florida will once again bring many top golfers on the PGA Tour  Champions to Boca including Bernhard Langer, John Daly, Fuzzy Zoeller, Jay Haas, Fred Couples, Steve Stricker and many more.

The tournament is owned and operated by the Boca Raton Champions Golf Charities. Our main beneficiary is the Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The BRRH Championship will be televised live on the Golf Channel.

ProLinks Sports’ Tournaments have run very successful internship programs over the past twenty years. Interns play a crucial role in the success of the tournament. They have remained in contact with the tournaments and many have been hired to work at one of the Pro Links Sports events.

Interns work under the guidance of the tournament staff while assisting with various events, projects, and tasks in conjunction with the PGA TOUR Champions. There are four different intern positions available that are all unique in their own way.

The work environment of the tournament industry is very fast paced and demanding, yet very rewarding at the same time. Interns have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the fields of sports marketing, sports management, and logistics management. The tournament will make every effort to comply with school regulations to allow interns an opportunity to receive course credit. Dress is casual and interns will receive a tournament uniform along with other miscellaneous merchandise, tickets, etc.

Requirements: Undergraduate or Graduate student, majoring in Sports Marketing/Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Management, Business, Communications, Computer Science. Must be at least junior status at time of application. Experience with Microsoft Office and the Internet. We are looking for college students that are energetic, flexible, creative, self-motivated, team players, and possess good communication skills.

Timeframe: October 2017 - February 2018 with a minimum of 20 hours per week. Due to the timing of this tournament we will work around school schedules and holidays. Some weekends will be required on a needed basis.  Overtime will be needed during January and February.

Sales and Marketing Coordinator Position: 

This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects relating to the BRRH Championship including drafting proposals, promotional videos, special events and fulfillments of sponsorship and ticket packages.  Intern will also aid in miscellaneous duties required in the office.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Update Social Media: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Assist with E-blast and current promotions
  • Assist Director of Sales and Tournament Director in sending out mailings, posters, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of sponsor proposals and/or contracts.
  • Assist in fulfillment of sponsor contracts including but not limited to ticketing, advertising, signage requirements and promotions.
  • Assist with Media Day and sponsor ticket distribution.
  • Design 2018 Media Guide
    • Research and organize statistics.
    • Research and organize player biographies and information.

Experience gained in marketing, customer service, accounting, event planning, operations/logistics, and personnel. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook is a must.

Pro-Am Position: 

The event takes place Wednesday and Thursday of tournament week.  The Draw Party is Tuesday evening.  Fifty-four (54) amateur foursomes compete each day.  A foursome is paired (done at the Draw Party) with a different professional golfer each day.  The professionals compete for the $10,000 purse.  Amateur foursomes compete each day for prizes, using either the foursome’s net score or the professional’s gross score.

Duties include but are not limited to:

·         Oversee data input of Pro-Am database; Amateur handicap verification.

·         Responsible for inventory of amateur gifts.

·         Work closely with the Pro-Am committee on gift distribution and days’ schedule of events.

·         Work closely with all tournament corporate sponsors on information gathering for 432 amateurs.

·         Work closely with tournament staff on pairings portion of Draw Party.

·         Be sure all contract requirements are met.

Will also be responsible for miscellaneous operational duties in connection with tournament committees for event preparation.

Candidate must be extremely detailed oriented. Experience in Microsoft Access preferred but not necessary.  Experience gained in management, marketing, operations/logistics, purchasing, trade negations, and personnel.

Description: This position is responsible for assisting the Salesmen and Operations Coordinator with all aspects relating to the BRRH Championship including fulfillments and inventory of signage, uniforms, and shipping and receiving of all merchandise. Intern will also aid in miscellaneous operational duties required on-course and in the tournament office.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Fulfillments of volunteer uniforms.
  • Documentation and inventory of all tournament merchandise.
  • Organizing the warehouse.
  • Assist Operations Coordinator with on-course set-up.
  • Obtain and organize supplies for each volunteer committee.
  • Main contact for Expo Tent.
  • Assist with ticket distribution.
  • Be sure all contract requirements are met, especially with regards to signage.

Experience gained in marketing, customer service, accounting, event planning, operations/logistics, and personnel.

Speical Events and Ticket Coordinator Position: 

Plan and execute several events that take place during the week of a PGA TOUR Champions event.  Work closely with the tournament staff on all aspects of event planning.  This person must be extremely detail oriented, organized, customer service orientated and have an understanding of online marketing and social media.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook and Adobe InDesign is preferred. 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for Honorary Observers.
  • Responsible for all pre-event invitations and communications with Honorary Observer participants.
  • Fill and track all ticket orders.
  • Work closely with all tournament sponsors on gathering information.
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator on volunteer meetings, mailings, and uniforms.
  • Assist in procuring donated food for staff and volunteer.
  • Assist in procuring prizes for the volunteer party.
  • Assist Tournament Manager with Sponsor Night (prior to tournament).

Partnership Sales Intern - Farmers Insurance Open/Century Club of San Diego (San Diego, CA)

The Partnership Sales Intern will work closely with both the Director of Partnerships and Senior Partnerships Representative on a variety of market outreach soliciting new business and key partnerships for the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open.

The Farmers Insurance Open’s internship program is an extremely hands-on experience where students will have the opportunity to play a major role in the execution of San Diego’s PGA TOUR event held at Torrey Pines from January 22 – 28, 2018. 

TIME COMMITMENT

The internship runs from October 16, 2017 to February 23, 2018. From October to December, preferred availability is 2-3 days a week for a weekly total of 6-10 hours. Hours may increase as the Tournament approaches.

Please note this position MUST work Advance and Tournament Weeks, Sunday, January 14 to Sunday, January 28, 2018. 

COMPENSATION

All internships are unpaid. College credit is available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generate VIP hospitality group sales through various outreach methods for 2018 Tournament

• Continuous solicitation of new business via cold calling, email, and social media (ex. LinkedIn) platforms

• Manage outreach to new Restaurant Partners for 2018 Tournament

• Provide excellent customer service to all individual and departmental accounts during the sales effort, as well as during the sales follow-through at the event

• Interface with Century Club members, partners, Tournament staff, vendors and PGA TOUR personnel

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Partnerships or Senior Partnerships Representative

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior sales experience, with a focus on cold calling (phone, email, social, etc.) desired, but not required

• Comfortable communicating with high-level decision makers

• Fast learner, entrepreneurial attitude towards developing new business

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, as well as Salesforce desired

The Ticket Services Intern will work closely with the Ticket Manager on the coordination of all ticket sales initiatives.

RBC Heritage - Internship Opportunities - Heritage Classic Foundation (Hilton Head Island, SC)

OVERVIEW

The Heritage Classic Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lives throughout the state of South Carolina. As the general sponsor of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing and several other prominent golf events, thousands of dollars generated from ticket sales and sponsorships are distributed to charitable organizations that enhance the quality of life for our citizens. Since 1987, the Heritage Classic Foundation has distributed over  $36 million to those in need.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing, April 9 - 15, 2018, is proud to offer exceptional opportunities to qualified individuals looking to gain experience and/or further their knowledge working for an official PGA TOUR Event.  Interns become an extension of the full time staff and will have an opportunity to work directly with a highly qualified team of professionals and gain direct experience working in the day-to-day operation of a nonprofit organization. 

The internship will be based in Hilton Head Island, SC.

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Proven event management experience

·         Self-motivated and focused team player who is also able to work independently

·         Attention to detail and organization

·         Ability to meet stringent deadlines

·         Excellent problem solving and multi-tasking skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

·         Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

EXPECTATIONS

  •  Interns are expected to be available a minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Some weekend and evening work is required especially leading up to and during the tournament.
  •  Assistants must be able to work from January 8th through April 27th, 2018

OPPORTUNITIES

All positions will support and assist the Tournament Staff and each other with administrative tasks during the four months of the internships. These duties will include but not be limited to: Ticket Sales / Customer Service; Pro-Am; Sponsor Relations; Finance; Volunteer Relations; Player Relations; Sales; Marketing; and Operations.

Position #1

TOURNAMENT OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (1 Position)

Primary Responsibilities: The Tournament Operations Assistant will work closely with the VP of Operations and the Manger of Operations and Volunteers on advance planning, tournament set-up, and duties as assigned.

This is a hands-on, labor intensive position.

  •  Assist Operations Manager and Director of Operations with administrative duties prior to the tournament.
  • Support vendor relations prior to and during the event.
  • Assist VP of Operations and Manger of Operations and Volunteers with specific operational plan implementation.
  •  Assist Manager of Operations and Volunteers with volunteer duties including registration, communications, uniform distribution, and operational set-up.
  • Assist Tournament Staff with events and projects as needed.

Position #2 

TOURNAMENT TICKETING ASSISTANTS (2 Positions)

Primary Responsibilities: The Tournament Ticketing Assistants will work closely with the Director of Ticketing on ticket sales, fulfillment and tournament credentialing.

  • Track and produce credentials for volunteers, tournament staff and special tournament guests.
  • Assist in ticket orders, package fulfillment, and order confirmations.
  • Provide support in the Tournament Will Call locations during tournament.
  • Assist Tournament Staff with events and projects as needed.

Position #3

TOURNAMENT OUTREACH ASSISTANT (1 Position)

Primary Responsibilities: The Tournament Outreach Assistant will work closely with the Director of Outreach and the Administrative Assistant.

  •  Assist in management of Heritage Classic Foundation's Champions Fore Charity, Birdies for Charity and Scholarship Programs.
  • Assist with special projects as directed by Director of Outreach and the Administrative Assistant.
  • Assist Tournament Staff with events and projects as needed.

Position #4

SALES & MARKETING ASSISTANT (1 Position)
Primary Responsibilities: The Sales & Marketing Assistant will work closely with the VP of Sales and Marketing, Director of Corporate Sales and Sales & Marketing Coordinator on advance planning, sponsor activation, the Honorary Observer program and other duties as assigned. This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Act as liaison between Expo sponsors for Sales Team leading up to and during the week of the event.

  • Actively update and maintain database with Trust Event Solutions tournament software.
  •  Assist Coordinator of Sales and Marketing and Pro-Am committees in completion of day to day tasks leading up to and during tournament week.
  • Assist Tournament Staff with events and projects as needed.

Tournament Headquarters Intern

Genesis Open Tournament interns are significant resources to TGR Live and the Tiger Woods Foundation and are essential to the success of the Genesis Open.  Tournament interns will be exposed to all facets of tournament and event management operations in preparation for the 2018 Genesis Open to be held February 12-18 at The Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, CA.  Positions are open to undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates (sports marketing and business majors preferred, but not required.)

Ticket Sales and Operations Intern

This position requires a candidate with strong analytical and organizational skills.  Candidates will be interfacing with a significant amount of people in high pressure situations so patience and initiative is a must.  This person will be exposed to ticketing operations, ticket sales and promotions providing invaluable hands-on experience.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with all aspects of ticket operations leading up to and during the tournament;

Operations Intern

This candidate will support the Events Manager and will serve as support staff on all Genesis Open special events. The Valero Texas Open (VTO) is one of 47 events that make up the world’s leading professional golf circuit, the PGA TOUR.

Each year the VTO attracts 156 of the top PGA TOUR professionals, tens of thousands of spectators each day, millions of television viewers and a list of blue-chip sponsors to TPC San Antonio and the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in an effort to raise significant funds for charities throughout the South Texas community and beyond.

The VTO is currently seeking motivated, qualified candidates for the 2018 Valero Texas Open season. 

Job Responsibilities:

Assist and support the Client Services Manager with tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Fulfillment and shipment of sponsor ticket packages

  • Process online ticket orders and track ticket sales promotions

  • Create access badges for tournament staff/vendors/etc.

  • Assist ticketing vendor with on course set-up prior to tournament

  • Support admissions and hospitality tent captains with ticket scanning equipment/troubleshooting

  • Track incoming merchandise orders and samples

  • Organize and inventory merchandise supply room

  • Pro-Am events:

    • Assist in ensuring all elements of F&B, AV and décor are in place prior to the start of each event

  • Player Relations:

    • Identify and plan activities in and around San Antonio for PGA TOUR players/wives/families
