Communications Specialist - Communications - PGA TOUR (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL)

We presently have an opportunity for a Specialist within our Communications department. This position is responsible for the creative development and implementation of PR plans for PGA TOUR Champions, PGA TOUR Champions members and tournaments, under direction of the Senior Director of Communications.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism preferred
  • Prior experience in communications or public relations required
  • Prior exposure to golf tournament or sports event communications preferred
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively within and across diverse groups
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office Software applications
  • A professional image, willingness to travel, and ability to work as a team is essential
  • Proficient skills in writing, editing, content creation, idea pitching and public speaking
  • Experienced in social media applications
  • Must be willing to travel to national and or international events

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the year-round promotion of PGA TOUR Champions to elevate the brands of Tour members while increasing year-round media engagement and coverage for co-sanctioned events on local and national platforms
  • Manage the local, national and international promotion of PGA TOUR Champions members and individual storylines in traditional and digital applications
  • Assist with oversight of media center at PGA TOUR Champions events, including pre-tournament credentialing, player and course access for media members, informational document distribution, press conferences and interview requests
  • Produce daily notes document after tournament rounds to ensure coverage on PGA TOUR-owned platforms as well as local and national distribution
  • Oversee fulfillment of informational statistics and interview requests from media, tournaments and broadcast partners.
  • Assist with the maintenance of all PGA TOUR Champions digital media guide applications
  • Collaborate with the PGA TOUR Champions digital team with content creation and implementation across .com and social platforms, including photography and video needs, as well as onsite interviews
  • Assist Senior Director of Communications with press conference needs, as well as tournament teams and Tournament Business Affairs leads with media day guidance and materials
  • Development of relationships with PGA TOUR Champions staff, players, agents and media to establish a trusted working environment from which to collaborate and promote Tour initiatives
  • Assist PGA TOUR communications team with media official needs at 1-2 co-sanctioned events annually, working closely with local and national media to promote TOUR players during tournament week
  • Approximately 18-20 weeks of travel is expected for this position (inclusive of 1-2 PGA TOUR events and/or Challenge Season events), with the potential for international travel included.
  • Support department's corporate communications function and special assignments
  • Special Projects or other duties as assigned

TOUR Influencer Manager - PGA TOUR Marketing - PGA TOUR (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL)

We presently have an opportunity for a TOUR Influencer Manager with PGA TOUR Marketing. The TOUR Influencer Manager will assist the Senior Manager, Brand Marketing and marketing team with the develop of brand advocates, influencer campaigns, and marketing strategy at the national level. The TOUR Influencer Manager will coordinate with other agencies, leagues, artists, athletes, entertainers, etc. to identify strategic partnership opportunities. The TOUR Influencer Manager will also coordinate an effort to create a creator based content channel to broaden the overall audience of the PGA TOUR and reach the designated four fan segments.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-7 years of marketing, communications, digital, or content experience
  • Background in golf preferred; strong interest in golf required
  • Influencer Marketing experience
  • Experience in developing relationships with external brand advocates
  • Experience working with influencers/celebrities in a marketing capacity
  • Strong knowledge of the social media space including content creation, best practices, success metrics and emerging platforms
  • Ability to develop long term content strategy tied to league and brand objectives
  • Budget management experience
  • YouTube Channel knowledge
  • Wide range of contacts with athletes, celebrities and social/digital influencer
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships to facilitate content development
  • Willingness to travel to multiple events throughout the year 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the players, agents, managers, and PGA TOUR departments to identify key influencers and other marketing assets in various markets where championship management events are staged
  • Work with Championship Management team to identify key tournaments to develop influencer programs
  • Ability to identify key content creators and influencers to support TOUR marketing and long term strategic objectives
  • Cultivate brand advocates and support high profile athletes, entertainers, etc. that have an interest in the game of golf and PGA TOUR.
  • Work with internal departments to understand how partnering with influencers or content creators can help meet brand objectives
  • Work with Senior Manager, Brand Marketing to identify strategic targets at the local level
  • Coordinate strategy behind social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vine, etc.; stays current with emerging platforms and other social applications in order to maximize the exposure to our four fan segments
  • Ensure PGA TOUR player social properties are opportunistic and in tune with the influencer marketing program
  • Capture photography and video as needed to influencer marketing effort and campaigns
  • Work with PGA TOUR social media staff to create conversation between the PGA TOUR (league channels and tournament channels), players, and influencers/celebrities on social media
  • Work with Senior Manager, PGA TOUR Publicity to coordinate outreach and efforts
