Sr. Manager - Communications - PGA TOUR (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL)

We presently have an opportunity for a Sr. Manager with the Communications department. This role will have an international focus. This position works on publicizing the PGA TOUR, its player and tournaments internationally and serving as a liaison with the TOUR’s custom content team that distributes editorial material throughout the world.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Communications or Public Relations preferred
  • Minimum 7 years work experience, international media industry experience is a plus
  • Fluency in a foreign language preferred
  • Ability to write compelling articles in a short time frame, with accuracy
  • Strong editing experience and a firm knowledge of Associated Press Style
  • Ability to manage numerous projects and work with numerous clients simultaneously
  • Strong golf knowledge, including the history of the sport
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products
  • Design skills / Attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage timelines

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of freelancers, which will produce custom content articles to be placed on websites and in magazines and newspapers; Create story ideas and assign topics
  • Manage and oversee the Communication Department’s freelance budget and collaborate with the Custom Content Senior Project Manager in the management of that budget
  • Create an overall monthly editorial calendar and an outlet-specific calendar based on each outlet’s publishing deadlines, for both partner and non-partner
  • Edit all assigned content and, where necessary, coordinate the translating into specific languages of each article so it arrives ready to the client ready for placement
  • Utilize Associated Press Style for editing responsibilities in the media guide and on other platforms
  • Maintain a good feel for photo selection and choose images that help tell the story of each article submitted
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with International Editorial Content team about future plans and story ideas
  • Have a close working relationship and provide assistance, when necessary, to the Director of International Marketing and Audience Development in establishing new and emerging international markets and its media outlets
  • Prepare from start to finish the contract process for all PGA TOUR freelance writers; Work closely with the Legal department to ensure all contracts are viable and signed
  • Write and edit player bios and other editorial content for PGA TOUR China, the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada and PGA TOUR Latinoamerica, when needed
  • Assist in tracking the performance of international members on all Tours and be able to prepare charts and graphs
  • Work with the Marketing Communication Manager in the China, Japan and England offices in providing assistance in the preparation of reports, graphs, etc.

Communications/Community Relations: Head of Web/Media Content
Senior Project Manager - International Media - PGA TOUR (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL)

We presently have an opportunity for a Senior Manager with our International Media department. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the PGA TOUR’s International Media Sales and Client Services, Digital Content, Production and Marketing Communications Departments at Headquarters and in-market internationally.  Their primary responsibility will be to spearhead the coordinated effort to push custom and general content to our international partners across television, digital and traditional media. Primary focus will be on China, Korea & Japan with the ultimate goal of scalability into other regions.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Business & Media, Sports Marketing, Broadcasting & Television or other related field is required
  • Eight to Ten years of experience with international media a plus
  • Experience with managing teams across multiple departments
  • Advanced project management skills and experience
  • Solid understanding of production and the process of creating and producing content
  • Cross-cultural skills
  • Understanding of the China media landscape

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the PGA TOUR’s international custom content strategy
  • Coordinate and lead the international content team to create and deliver tailored content to existing and new media outlets
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with both clients and staff to generate custom content ideas
  • Have regular (daily) communication with in-market teams in key territories, encourage collaboration across offices
  • Have a thorough understanding of current international broadcast & digital relationships
  • Manage and oversee all projects from concept to implementation
  • Work directly with Audience Development and Client Services team in-market to establish and foster both existing and new relationships with free and paid media
  • Develop timelines and work with PGATE to ensure custom content is created to schedule
  • Communicate content schedule and delivery details with all partners weekly
  • Maintain a database of contacts in conjunction with in-market teams for each territory
  • Establish a reporting system to measure the impact of new content across each region, monitor trends and adjust the content strategy as needed
  • Review strategy & distribution plans regularly with Business Development & Audience Development teams across TV & digital

Senior Social Media Producer - Skratch - PGA TOUR (St Augustine, FL)

The Senior Social Media Producer serves as the content lead for Skratch digital platforms, working closely with other members of the Skratch team and the PGA TOUR’s digital Content Team to plan and develop compelling stories for use across Skratch websites and social media platforms. As a digital storyteller, the Senior Producer is responsible for developing and executing ideas that will generate audience interaction across platforms. 

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Journalism or Communications preferred
  • 3-6 years of experience in creating content for use on websites and social media platforms
  • Experience in production and/or content management with a digital publisher is preferred
  • Background in golf preferred; strong interest in golf required
  • Strong writing and editing skills including grammar, style and spelling
  • Strong knowledge of the social web including content creation, best practices, success metrics and emerging platforms
  • Design/photo/video editing skills are a plus

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop content ideas and broader digital concepts for use on Skratch platforms
  • Work collaboratively with Skratch content creators; take part in and lead regular creative brainstorming and pitch sessions.
  • Manage at least one direct report and freelance resources; Oversee workflow and production schedules across the broader Skratch team
  • Work with Skratch team to create unique content as events unfold in real time
  • Develop, edit and program content for use on Skratch platforms
  • Utilize available data to make or adjust programming decisions across platforms
  • Work closely with Skratch General Manager and Sales Team, developing ideas that can be sold to sponsors
  • Communicate with the PGA TOUR’s Content Team on a daily basis, fielding ideas for Skratch and sharing other ideas with the TOUR team
  • Ensure Skratch content adheres to brand standards and established voice across platforms
  • Available to travel and available during competition hours, which may include evenings and weekends

Marketing & Community Relations Assistant - Valero Texas Open - PGA TOUR (San Antonio, TX)

Position:                            Marketing & Community Relations Assistant

Job Type:                          Seasonal, Full-Time

Location:                          San Antonio, Texas

Period:                             January 3, 2017 – May 31, 2018 (Valero Texas Open week: April 16-22, 2018)

Compensation:                  $1,250 per month

 

The Valero Texas Open (VTO) is the 3rd oldest event on the PGA TOUR, dating back to 1922.  The tournament is steeped in history boasting legendary champions that include Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, and Arnold Palmer and played at a world-class facility.  Raising money for charity is a central focus of the PGA TOUR and the Valero Texas Open shares in that mission. Since 1922, the VTO has raised over $126 million for charity and is one of top three on the PGA TOUR in annual charity donations-with $11 million donated in 2017. 

Each spring, thousands of fans flock to TPC San Antonio as the best players in the world compete for their share of the $6.2 million purse.

We are currently seeking motivated, qualified candidates for the 2018 Valero Texas Open.

Job Responsibilities:

Birdies for Charity®

  • Data entry of pledge forms (3,000+ forms) tracking over $2.82M worth of donations

  • Assist with collection of contributions and the billing process

  • Assist with tracking incentives contests

  • Filing pledge forms

  • Processing check payments

  • Phone calls required to charities and donors

  • Assist with fundraising reports to charities

  • Update credit card processing book

Marketing & Promotions

  • Coordinate and attend local events as liaison of promotions street team

  • Assist with social media awareness

  • Maintain media binder: articles about the Valero Texas Open

  • Assist with Documentation of Performance Reports for key sponsors

  • Assist with designing & writing content for advertising collateral

Job Qualifications and Requirements:
The ideal candidate should…

  • Must be willing to move to or currently reside in/near San Antonio, Texas.
  • Must be able to commit fully to the Valero Texas Open, including long work days and extended periods without a day off, especially in the four weeks prior to and the week of the Valero Texas Open.  This includes working evenings, weekends and holidays as required throughout the period of employment. This is a full-time position.
  • Be energetic, detail orientated, punctual, and able to multi-task in a fast paced and exciting environment.
  • Be self-motivated and thrive under pressure in a fast paced work environment while exercising organizational, analytical and time management skills.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills that complement a proactive, solution driven, team-oriented work ethic.
  • Have a strong ability to foster relationships with a wide variety of individuals from entry level to C-level executives.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Be able to life a minimum of 50 lbs as needed.
  • Have valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to commute to main offices, TPC San Antonio temporary offices and to offsite locations.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint), internet software, various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram); and Adobe software including Photoshop.
