 Job Summary:
The Assistant Coach is responsible for providing coaching and player support at practices, events, and tournaments under the direction of the Head Coach. The position is responsible for teaching skills and techniques while modelling and balancing hard work, fun, and discipline at all times consistent with Club goals and mission.

Job Responsibilities:
Assist and work under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach in training volleyball teams, including but not limited to:
  • Attend all practices, games, and tournaments for assigned team and model proper strategies for optimal individual skill and team play.
  • Participate in all assigned practices, games and tournaments to teach proper techniques and fundamentals of volleyball mechanics to players and to provide direction and feedback to players as needed.
  • Provide guidance to players and ensure players receive adequate support
  • Provide clear and consistent direction and communication to each player to provide direction and information about the player’s performance and role on the team.
  • Provide other coaching and team support as requested by the Head Coach, including but not limited to:
  • Monitor and communicate with Head Coach, players, and other staff to keep practices on time and on schedule.
  • Chaperone players and conduct room checks during tournaments and games requiring travel.
  • Assist Head Coach to maintain equipment inventory for assigned team.
  • Maintain and secure training facilities.
  • Participate in all coach meetings to keep track of the latest information and techniques.
  • Administer and facilitate team spirit and sportsmanship among players
  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Communicate and interact with player families and other internal and external business partners, both orally and in writing, in a clear, effective and professional manner.
  • Assist the Club Director with other administrative and business operations as assigned.
  • Support the philosophy and vision of the Club
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelors or Associates degree preferred but not required.
  • 2-4 years of coaching or playing experience at the Club or High School level.
  • Current Safe Sport Certification, with Background Screening.
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organization, efficient time management, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
  • Position may work in an indoor gym environment with prolonged sitting and/or standing.
  • Position may work in an outdoor environment with prolonged sitting and/or standing.
  • Requires frequent physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials. (max 75lbs)
  • Occasionally works under tight time constraints or with business activities of a seasonable/cyclical nature.
  • Occasionally works with angry or dissatisfied customers.
  • Requires frequent travel and exposure to noisy and crowded environments.
