Youth Programs Camp Coach - Houston Dynamo/Dash (Houston, TX)

Summary

The Houston Dynamo / Dash Youth Program Department is looking for part-time accredited coaches to assist in providing their coaching knowledge and experience to our various youth programs and initiatives; while helping to develop, educate and grow the game of soccer to our youth.  At Forever Orange, LLC, we strive to create a dynamic work environment that fosters mutual respect and team work. Essential job functions and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Must be proactive, detail-oriented and hardworking

  • To serve the part-time position of Camps Coach under the supervision of the Youth Programs Manager or Supervisor

  • Ability to effectively implement the Houston Dynamo/Dash youth soccer curriculum and methodology

  • Ability to effectively carry out the curriculum and explain it to volunteer coaches

  • Comfortable coaching a variety of ages at grassroots level

  • Bring energy, excitement and fun to build a love of the sport of soccer.

  • Build positive and energizing working relationships with players, club volunteer coaches and parents.

  • Must uphold the Houston Dynamo/Dash values and represent the club and brand in a positive way

  • Must have strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively and clearly

  • Must have strong people and relationship building skills to connect with players, club coaches and parents

  • Must possess a strong desire to grow soccer from a grassroots level

  • Must be reliable and punctual

  • Must have in-depth knowledge and love for the game

  • Must be able to effectively demonstrate soccer specific technical abilities

  • Must be able to effectively carry out training sessions

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • Professional/College playing experience preferred but not required

  • Premier level coaching experience preferred but not required

  • At least two years of coaching experience within youth soccer

  • USSF “E” license or National Youth License highly preferred; however, relevant playing or coaching experience may be acceptable. 

  • 95% of the work will be done in an outdoor environment

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week, including weekends

  • Must be able to provide your own transportation (travel required)

Player Operations: Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy/Doctor
Assistant Athletic Trainer - LA Galaxy (Carson, CA)

The Assistant Athletic Trainer position is responsible for delivering the six domains of athletic training (Prevent, Protect, Evaluate, Assess, Rehabilitate, and Counsel) to Soccer Athletes for the LA Galaxy, LA Galaxy II and LA Galaxy Academy.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the taping, bracing, and padding of athletic-related injuries.
  2. Responsible for delivering therapeutic modalities to athletic-related injuries.
  3. Responsible for primary and secondary survey or evaluation of all athletic-related injuries.
  4. Responsible for monitoring ABC’s, CPR, First Aid and other interventions while performing primary survey to all athletes.
  5. Responsible for all medical documentation athletic-related injuries. Maintain confidentiality of documentation.
  6. Trainer is required to arrive before, be present, and remain after the game/event as appropriate; responsible for game and event preparation of athletes; responsible for game and event medical coverage of athletes as scheduled with the Director of Sports Medicine.  Responsible inventory, and required materials to supply and operate the training room.
  7. Responsible for the medical counseling of all athletic-related injuries and inquiries by the athletes.  Responsible for distributing protocols of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation to athletic related injuries.  Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions.
  8. Responsible for maintaining state licensure and national certification by annually completing the necessary Continuing Educational Units (CEU).  Responsible for completing the necessary annual requirements of CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications. 
  9. Work effectively with colleagues and athletes by practicing punctuality, respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication.  Maintain proficiency as needed and approved by attending trainings, reading job-related materials, and meeting with others in area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):

A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) ?Area of Study:   Sports medicine or Athletic training

  1. A minimum of 2  years of related work experience in soccer
  2. National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA)
  3. Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy
  4. Ability to evaluate injury and determine treatment
  5. Maintain accurate and appropriate training records
  6. Knowledge of NATA and the use and maintenance of athletic training equipment
  7. Administer first aid and CPR
  8. Current CPR certification
  9. First Aid Certificate

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time. This position requires the ability to walk for long distances (large venue sites), occasionally run for shorter distances (getting quickly to the site of an injured athlete), and frequent bending and twisting. Duties will involve moving materials/objects up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis, as well as assisting an injured athlete. Manual dexterity and coordination using one or both hands are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Busy work environment with numerous interruptions. Work hours may vary in order to fulfill the responsibilities of the position and/or team schedules. Exposure to possibly disagreeable conditions due to outdoor weather extremes. May be requested to travel with team. This position works All year.

NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB OVERVIEW:

As the 20th member of Major League Soccer, NYCFC will be the new benchmark for professional soccer teams in the United States.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Academy Athletic Trainer (AAT) manages the day-to-day sports medicine operations for New York City Football Clubs Academy teams.  In this capacity, the AAT provides injury prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for players’ medical problems.  The AAT works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physician and Technical Staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Performs as Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of Academy players.  Health care includes, but is not limited to: first aid / emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals
  • Maintain a complete and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record system.
  • Order, maintain and inventory supplies and clinical equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
  • Assist with the Youth Affiliate education program

REQUIREMENTS/CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Certified Athletic Trainer with a NY State License
  • In good standing with NATABOC and a member of the NATA (or CATA)
  • Current professional CPR certification
  • Possess personal professional liability insurance
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of sports medicine
  • Medical soccer experience preferred

Part-Time Massage Therapist - New York Red Bulls (Harrison, NJ)

The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The first team features 2016 MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips, U.S. international Sacha Kljestan, and several players with USMNT experience.  The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide day-to-day massage therapy to members of the New York Red Bulls first team and USL team as necessary in a professional manner.  This will include all practices and games both at home and on the road.  The therapist will work in coordination with the team’s medical staff and at the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer.  Treatments provided by the therapist will fit in conjunction with the overall health care plan for the player determined by the medical staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)

       Ability to attend and be on time for all first team functions unless directed by the Head Athletic Trainer.

       Ability to withstand the physical demands of extensive hands-on care for professional athletes on a daily basis.

       Provide high quality soft tissue treatments to the satisfaction of the players and medical staff to promote recovery from injury and enhance recovery from the physical demands of soccer for the non-injured player.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

EXPERIENCE:

-          Previous experience working with soccer players or in the professional sports setting preferred, but not

required

-          Proficiency in delivering sports massage

-          Minimum 5 years as a licensed massage therapist

This position requires a dynamic, self-motivated, organized, energetic and creative strength and conditioning coach with a working experience in either collegiate, soccer academy, minor league and/or professional sports. This position represents one of the key functions within the New York Red Bulls franchise structure, to allow players to develop to their top conditioning and prepare them for the physical requirements of professional soccer. This position is full-time with a January 2018 start date.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)

 

       Develop and implement training programs to develop players’ performance and reduce injuries at the academy level

       Monitor fitness and fatigue of the Academy teams using science based approach

       Test players’ physical performance

       Create benchmark for players at each age group

       Organize strength and fitness training sessions with players coming back from injury

       Be integrated to first team and second team strength and conditioning coaches to understand the needs of a New York Red Bull player per position

POSITION SUMMARY

Site Supervisors for Sporting Stripes are responsible for expanding the early childhood soccer program by leading and assisting in sessions based on the Sporting Stripes 2-5y curriculum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead coaching staff in cooperation with the overall strategy and philosophy of play for children ages two to five years old.
  • Ensure coaching staff is using proper instruction for children based on their specific program, such as Parent-Child Programs (ages 2-3), Beginner Programs (ages 3-4), and Pre-Recreational Programs (ages 4-5).
  • Greeting families, leading check-in, class assignments/rosters, uniform distribution, and introduction to coach for each family registered in the program as provided by the program manager.
  • Document any issues related to coaching staff, customers, facilities, equipment etc. and relay all documentation to the program manager.
  • When necessary, in the absence of a coach or in a potentially unsafe environment, lead and assist coaching staff with 50-minute training sessions that are both fun and engaging.
  • Facilitate program policies and procedures as well as information about current sessions and future sessions as provided by the program manager
  • Drafting and confirmation, reminder, and thank you emails to be submitted to and approved by program manager prior to being sent.
  • Encouraging coaching staff to take a child-centered approach in coaching children how to enjoy the game of soccer at its earliest foundation.
