As a coach for Soccer In The Community, you will be expected to deliver a fun and engaging soccer experience, represent the Chicago Fire Soccer Club in a positive and professional manner, and promote current and future programs.

Little Sparks is available to children ages 2-5 year olds so therefore the expectation is that coaches are willing and able to keep the young children engaged while introducing them to the basic components of soccer.

Chicago Fire Soccer In The Community coaches have two main responsibilities;

·       Players – Implement the Little Sparks curriculum to the high standards expected of the Chicago Fire.

·       Parents – Be able to answer questions about current and future programs.

Payment is based on experience and coaching qualifications.

As a representative of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, all coaches are expected to deliver quality, thorough sessions on the field, while being an ambassador for the Club off the field, within the community.

Chicago Fire Soccer In The Community – Summer Coaching Positions

Chicago Fire Soccer In The Community are looking for passionate coaches to join the team to work on the Club's camp programs across the Midwest, starting this summer. The length of the positions available range from 4 to 10 weeks, between June and August.

As a member of the Soccer In The Community coaching team, you will travel to and coach on weekly Chicago Fire Summer Camps across the Midwest, in Chicagoland, IL, WI, MI, IA, and IN.

Chicago Fire Summer Camp programs work with players of all ages and abilities, therefore the expectation is that coaches are willing and able to work with different levels of players, ages and are experienced in a variety of on/off field situations.

Chicago Fire Soccer In The Community coaches have three main responsibilities;

  • Players - Plan, deliver and review sessions which a focus on the development of each child. Creating a positive and enjoyable environment to allow players to express themselves is essential.
  • Coaches - Providing education and guidance to volunteer parent coaches to help engagement and retention. 
  • Clubs - Work with the host club to build long-term, sustainable soccer programs that benefit the local community.

Columbus Crew SC Overview
Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2017 campaign is the Black & Gold’s 19th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium -- the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States – where the club set single-season sellout records and hosted the 2015 MLS Cup. The club was purchased by PSV on July 29, 2013 as part of the privately held investment and management firm’s sports and entertainment business enterprise.

Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Director of Coaching in our Player Development Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collaborative creation and implementation of the age group programming in line with the Crew SC Player Development philosophy and methodology.

The candidate will have primary oversight of the competitive program including curriculum & program development and implementation, seasonal and periodization calendars, management of coaching staff, daily session plans for players and coaches, as well as oversight of the formation of teams in the program. The Director of Coaching must understand and adhere to the high expectations and degree of professionalism associated in working with a professional sports team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of the club at all times
  • Follow & Implement the club’s player development and training philosophy
  • Further develop and implement a comprehensive player development curriculum and coach development program
  • Identify, hire and manage coaches
  • Create and implement daily coaching sessions
  • Cultivate a “Love for the game”
  • Organize and run tryouts
  • Ensure coach, player and parent code of conduct is enforced
  • Attend program games and organization/department events
  • Provide consistency within the club
  • Execute coaching education clinics and training sessions for the program, partners and affiliates
  • Identify needs to progress the development of top talent
  • Manage the planning, development and execution of programming

Goalkeeping Program Coordinator - Orlando City Youth Soccer (Orlando, FL)

Reports to: Technical Director

Position Summary: As Central Florida’s leading program for developing players, the Goalkeeping Program Coordinator coaches all Goalkeeping youth players, develops the curriculum, and assists in scouting and recruiting talented players for the Competitive Team Program within guidelines established by Orlando City Youth Soccer Club and governing leagues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the leadership of the youth competitive team goalkeeping program.
  • Responsible for the selection, supervision, and evaluation of the Assistant Goalkeeping Coaches.
  • Responsible for the development for all goalkeepers, as well as designing training curriculum and schedules that provide training to all competitive players.
  • Responsible for the selection of goalkeepers at tryouts to competitive teams and collaborate with the respective program coordinator and Technical Director to ensure goalkeepers are placed on level appropriate teams within our competitive program.
  • Responsible for youth goalkeeping coaches education & development, to include coach’s clinics and resources.
  • Responsible for adhering to the club’s budget and following the recommended coaches’ pay.
  • Maintain highest standards of player/coach conduct during games, showcases & tournaments.
  • Provide player assessment and feedback on a scheduled basis throughout the year. 
  • Scout and recruit talented potential competitive players.
  • Maintain a positive and transparent image as an Orlando City representative.
  • Attend scouting meetings and classroom sessions.
  • Attend training sessions to observe current players.

Qualifications:

  • Possess at minimum NSCAA GK level 3 license, NSCAA Advanced National/USSF National Goalkeeping preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach techniques, tactics, physical and psychological components of soccer for the position of goalkeeping.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and educate youth players and coaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Embrace change and adopt Orlando City style and philosophy and ensure coaches follow curriculum.
  • Strong organizational and personnel management skills.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task effectively. 
  • Knowledge of professional sports team operations, public relations, and/or sponsor relations preferred.
  • Degree from accredited university in a physical education, natural science or sport management field preferred.

Youth Soccer Camp Coach - Portland Timbers (Portland, OR)

Kick off your sports career with the Portland Timbers as Youth Soccer Camp Coach.

Selection for the Youth Soccer Camp Coach will be made based on applicable skills, experience and area(s) of education. Be sure to clearly demonstrate your skills, experience and area(s) of interest in your application.

Essential Functions/ Major Responsibilities:

• Come to camp prepared with well thought out station drills according to your coaching assignment (all drills are listed in the Camp Manual)

• Arrive 45 minutes before camp on the first day and 30 minutes early for the remainder of camp

• Assist Camp Director with check-in, check-out, and gear distribution 

• Set up your station before camp begins

• Assist the Camp Director with collecting the camp gear at the end of each camp day

• Engage with campers during your 30-45 minutes before camp

• Follow and support the Camp Director’s instructions and schedule throughout camp

• Assist Camp Director with bathroom, snack, and lunch breaks for campers – as assigned

• Be back to camp on time (by 1 PM) following your 1-hour lunchbreak

• Complete evaluations or certificates for each camper in your main group based on the age group you are assigned

Secondary Responsibilities:

• You may be asked to provide support to other departments within the Portland Timbers organization in regards to additional coaching opportunities/events

Requirements:

• Must be at least 16 years-old

• USSF “F” Coaching License – or better

• Must be available to work a minimum of 3 camps throughout the summer (June – August)

• Coaching staff must be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods of time

• Must be able to provide your own transportation to and from camps

Education:

• Coaching license required, as stated above

Preferred Experience:

• Previous coaching experience

• High-level (professional, collegiate, academy) playing experience

• CPR Certified

JOB TITLE: Youth Soccer Camp Coach

SUMMARY:

Sounders FC Youth Camp coaches will provide coaching instruction to kids ages 3 – 18 who have registered to participate in Sounders FC Summer Camps.

Coaches will be required to follow and teach the specific curriculum as it pertains to each individual topic of the day. Coaches will be responsible for being educated on the Sounders FC Summer Camp coaching curriculum and have an ability to teach the curriculum to children in every age group.  Coaching education will be provided at mandatory and paid orientation days.

Youth Camp coaches are also responsible for the safety of the children at soccer camp. Each camp coach will be provided with a Sounders FC Coaching Handbook and is required to be up to date and familiar with all rules, regulations, and policies regarding child safety.

Coaches are to assist the site director of each camp location in the day to day operations of each camp site, that includes and is not limited to, setting up camp drills, sorting equipment, checking kids into camp, distributing awards, and handing out supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching the Curriculum
• Study and learn Sounders FC 2015 Summer Camp Curriculum
• Effectively carry out the lesson plans and teach the kids accordingly based on their age level

Safety
• Manage the kids at camp to keep them safe
• Keep an eye out for any dangerous opportunities at camp site
• Keep the children under control and behaving in a manner to avoid injury

Operations
• Assist site director in setting up camp and closing camp each day
• Help sign children in and out of soccer camp
• Organize equipment each day
• Hand out prizes and awards
• Keep kids under control while site director is addressing the group

Customer Relationships
• Be cordial and respectful when dealing with parents at camp
• Direct any and all complaints to the site director in a calm and respectful manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Premier level soccer playing experience required
• College playing experience preferred but not required
• Experience in childcare preferred but not required
• Minimum “E” Coaching License or equivalent preferred but not required

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively and clearly with children
• Must be very punctual
• Must have in-depth knowledge of the soccer so they can effectively teach it to beginners

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to effectively demonstrate soccer specific technical abilities
• Will be required to set up promotional material at youth camp locations
• Must be able to move and transport soccer various types of soccer equipment

• Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid Certificates

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• 95% of the work will be done in an outdoor environment
• Must be able to work a minimum of 18 hours a week

Youth Camp Site Technical Director - Seattle Sounders FC (Seattle, WA)

JOB TITLE: Youth Camp Site Technical Director

DEPARTMENT: Soccer Programs

REPORTS TO: Director of Soccer Programs

STATUS: Part-time, hourly

SUMMARY:

Sounders FC Youth Camp Site Technical Director coaches will provide technical instruction and guidance to the camp coaches at the individual camp site they are supervising.


The Technical Director will ensure the staff coaches are following the camp curriculum and methodology as it pertains to each specific age group.  The Technical Director will provide on field coaching education to the camp staff coaches and assist with exercise implementation. 


The Technical Director will be responsible for announcing and explaining the technical and tactical topic each day at camp to the camp participants.  The Technical Director will also provide operational support at the camp regarding check-in and out procedures, daily giveaways, camp setup, item distribution, customer service to parents, and provide an additional line of safety for the camp.

The Technical Director will be asked at times to provide coaching for various age groups and programs throughout the summer time.  Technical Directors will provide feedback to the camp directors regarding coaching performances, camp operations, and player talent.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implementation of Sounders FC Curriculum and Methodology
• Supervises camp site coaches and implements Sounders FC curriculum, methodology and system organization

• Coaching players in the u6 to u18 age range in accordance with Sounders curriculum and methodology

• Display a complete support of curriculum, methodology, and system organization at all times

• Ability to effectively carry out the curriculum and explain it to coaches


Operations
• Assist camp site manager with daily operations of camp
• Help sign children in and out of soccer camp
• Organize equipment each day
• Hand out prizes and awards
• Address the group on daily topic and activities


Customer Relationships
• Be cordial and respectful when dealing with parents, fellow coaches and camp participants

• Be a knowledgeable and positive ambassador for the Sounders
• First line of customer service for questions about camp operations, specifically technical aspects 

• Escalate any issues to camp directors

Safety
• Survey camp sites daily for potential hazards.  Escalate issues to Camp Directors.

• Implement all camp safety procedures and protocols and ensure that all camp site coaches follow safety procedures and protocols. 
• Keep the children under control and behaving in a manner to avoid injury


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Premier level soccer playing experience required
• Professional playing experience preferred but not required

• Premier level coaching experience for a minimum of 3 years

• Youth Soccer Director role experience preferred but not required
• Experience in childcare preferred but not required
• USSF “C” license required.  USSF “B” license or equivalent preferred, but not required

• WA driver license required (by first day of employment)


QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively and clearly with coaching staff
• Must be extremely punctual and organized
• Must have in-depth knowledge of the game of soccer

• Must be able to effectively carry out the Sounders FC curriculum and explain it to coaches
• Demonstrated ability to teach techniques, tactics, physical and psychological components of soccer
• Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and educate youth players and youth coaching staff.

• Must be able to effectively carry out training sessions
• Must be able to move and transport various types of soccer equipment and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

• Must pass a criminal background check


WORK ENVIRONMENT
• 95% of the work will be done in an outdoor environment. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 31 hours a week
• Must be available to work a minimum of 6 weeks between June 15 and September 1
• Must be able to provide your own transportation to local camp locations
