Videography/Social Media Internship -Chicago Fire Academy - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, Il)

Academy Videography/Social Media Internship

Expectations: As the Academy Videography/Social Media Intern, you will provide video support on game days and during practices throughout the Spring Academy season while also expanding the Academy’s social media presence through creative approaches.

Responsibilities:

  • Recording, editing, and uploading all Academy home games to HUDL
  • Recording and editing of practice film for coaches and players to review
  • Assist with social media
    • Conduct player/coach interviews
    • Expand social media outreach
  • Interns will be expected to work ALL Academy home games (U13/14/15/17/19
  •  Interns will be expected to work 1-2 evenings during the week (practices)
  • Interns will be expected to work 20-30 hours a week

Additional Duties: 

  • May be required to assist with Academy equipment/administrative projects
  • May be required to assist other departments with various projects

Qualifications:

  • Must receive college credit for internship
  • Soccer playing experience required
  • Knowledge with IMOVIE/Movie Maker or similar video editing software required
  • Experience in a related field is a plus
  • Coaching License a plus
  • Full use of Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to work in a team/collaborative work environment is required along with strong organizational,  interpersonal, analytical and planning skills
  • Foreign language fluency or conversational a plus
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 Lbs
  • Willing to work outdoors in sometimes inclement weather!

 Description:

The Chicago Fire currently has a rare opening for a motivated and enthusiastic college student looking to get great sports marketing exposure. The ideal candidate will be looking for a career either in sports marketing, or potentially events, and be able to work a mixture of days, evenings and weekends. He or she will work directly with the Marketing Coordinator, and will assist in the creation of new marketing ideas, develop and improve existing ones and follow through on successful execution.

Youth Development Internship (Spring/Summer 2018) - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Youth Development Internship

Expectations:  Is it your dream to work in the sports industry? If so an internship with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club can be the first mile of your marathon!  As an Intern with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, you will aid the club in continuing to strive to be a premier club on and off the pitch, you will play a large role in the achievement of this goal by executing projects and by being a part of the day to day activities of the Club.  We are seeking interns that will take steps on their own to grow and hone their craft. As an Intern, you will be expected to give maximum effort every day you come to work. 

Responsibilities: 

Events Operations

Throughout the year, the Youth Development department operate several events. As an intern, you will be integrated into the full running of these events and assist in areas such as;

  • Set-up of and coordinating the online registration process;
  • Liaise with the marketing team to create event collateral including the video, flyers and tryout cards as well as updating of any digital webpages/websites;
  • Be the point of contact for all communication and questions from internal departments and outside organizations;
  • Booking of any facility requirements as needed by the event(s);
  • Liaise with the operations team to request any event equipment and staffing needs;
  • Assist in the creation and coordinating of an operations plan;
  • Distribute and collect any paperwork to participants where required and store as needed.

Marketing and Communications

Through this internship, you will take a key role in maintaining and improving the marketing and digital performance of our programming, especially where related to our Fire Juniors clubs.

  • Take a lead with the management of all Fire Juniors social media accounts;
  • Create and oversee a weekly social media content calendar;
  • Liaise with the digital media team to ensure all Fire related content is being pushed out through Fire Juniors platforms;
  • Work with each Fire Juniors club to ensure they’re posting creative and consistent messaging on their own social platforms;
  • Track data analytics for all social platforms so performances can be reviewed;
  • Create and maintain the Fire Juniors monthly newsletter and be responsible for collecting all the content to be added to each newsletter;
  • Work with each Fire Juniors club to keep the newsletter database up to date;
  • Assist in the execution of all marketing and operational requests from the Fire Juniors clubs.

Other

·         Assist in the daily administration of all Fire Juniors related and other Youth Development tasks.

Qualifications:

  • MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE COURSE CREDIT FOR THIS INTERNSHIP
  • Students should be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Business Administration, Sports management, Communications or any related field

Marketing/Operations Internship (Spring/Summer 2018) CFJ West - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Plainfield, IL)

DESCRIPTION:

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking an undergraduate student for one of its satellite youth soccer club affiliates, Chicago Fire Juniors West Soccer Club, located in Plainfield, IL. The candidate should be interested in gaining experience in marketing and brand strategy, youth soccer gameday operations, youth soccer club operations, and event marketing. Students must be available at least 20-25 hours per week. Students MUST RECEIVE ACADEMIC CREDIT to qualify for this internship. 

POSITION PURPOSE: 

The primary responsibility is to provide weekday marketing and operations support to the Chicago Fire Juniors West (CFJ West) leadership team including the development and execution of Marketing and Operations strategy for the club. The intern will be fundamental in the marketing and operations plans for the club’s first youth soccer tournament as well in the development of club’s social media. The intern will be expected to: 

  • Assist in marketing plan development and execution, including matchday operations and tournament operations, and assistance designing marketing materials
  • Assist with the social media strategy and content development. Working weeknights to collect social media images and post on CFJ West social media accounts based on branding objectives
  • Assist in the management of the club’s website including the production of marketing materials, marketing campaigns, and the creation of articles
  • Assist CFJ West marketing support of its recreational soccer partner via the development of a marketing plan, marketing materials, and matchday operations.
  • Assist CFJ West’s leadership team in developing, setting up and promoting special intra-club events such as camp, clinics, college nights, etc.
  • Assist CFJ West’s leadership team with promoting its events with state, regional and national associations
  • Assist in planning and execution of grassroots marketing efforts, including managing lead collection and distribution of promotional items
  • Research regarding further marketing opportunities for the CFJ West including those with potential partners
  • Matchday operations responsibilities (*may require some heavy lifting such as goals, tents, advertisement boards, etc.), which includes working weekend times. Matchday duties may include working on promotions, customer service, field set-up and teardown 
  • Some responsibilities may include clerical work, such as filing, data entry, inventory, copying and correspondence

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Understanding of key marketing concepts and trends across various social platforms
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Fluency in a second language is a plus
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
  • Goal-oriented, ambitious, honest individuals sought with strong work ethic, dedication and desire to learn and contribute to team directing the ambitious growth of a competitive, youth soccer affiliate for a professional club
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to provide own transportation to / from Plainfield, IL

Description:

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is seeking a Video Production intern to assist with day-to-day video productions within the Team Website, Home TV Broadcasts, and In-Stadium presentations. Applicant must have a strong work ethic, good time management skills, and the desire to expand their knowledge.

Prerequisites:

-       Basic understanding of video camera functionality, lighting, and production techniques.

-       Knowledge of DSLR and Broadcast quality Cameras and Lenses

-       Skills in Non-Linear Editing on Adobe Premier and After Effects on Apple Computers

-       Knowledge of Video Editing Codecs

-       Understanding of the game of Soccer and familiarity with MLS, and U.S. Soccer

Duties will include:

-       Edit match-up previews, event recaps, and in-stadium content

-       Assist in editing TV Broadcast related content for Pre-Game and Half Time Shows

Title: Equipment/Soccer Ops Internship

 

Reports To: Equipment Manager

Expectations: As the Soccer Ops/Equipment Intern you will assist in the management of all equipment needs and requirements for the Chicago Fire First Team and Soccer Operations Department, in addition to assisting with the general upkeep of the Club’s training facilities

Responsibilities:

·         Help with receiving inventory and preparing all incoming deliveries for the use by the team

·         Assist with the maintenance of all equipment to ensure longevity

·         Learn to and complete repair and recondition of faulty or damaged equipment for continued use, or commission repairs for equipment

·         Assist with the preparation and distribution daily of all athletic training gear (training, travel, appearance, or match) game kit necessary for all teams

·         Wash, dry and fold all laundry from each day’s events (Training or Matches)

·         Work with equipment manager to prepare for all trips, domestic or international, trying to account for the unknown weather conditions or guest players

·         Learn which items are needed for league or cup matches that conform to league, federation or confederation standards and assist with preparation.

·         Applies names, numbers, sponsor patches and commemorative patches as needed to uniforms, training gear, leisure gear for first team and developmental program teams

·         A with the preparation and receiving of all orders as needed for field equipment

·         Oversees locker room operations; maintains adequate supply of toiletries  

·         Help with purchasing and preparing locker room supplies need by home, visiting teams and referees for match days

·         Help with equipment movement process to and from airport, hotels and stadiums, whether home or away

·         Support the equipment manager as needed with contact between the league office and the Chicago Fire on all uniform and equipment issues

·         Maintains the upkeep adn cleanliness of a functional and professional equipment room

Qualifications:

·         Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college

·         Must receive college credit for internship

·         Experience in a related field is a plus

·         A high level of understanding for the game of Soccer

·         Familiarity with MLS league rules and regulations as they relate to uniforms and equipment is a plus

Information Technology Intern (Spring/Summer 2018) - Chicago Fire Soccer Club (Bridgeview, IL)

Title: IT Intern

Reports To: IT Manager                

Expectations:   

The Information Technology Intern will report directly to the Information Technology Manager.  This position is responsible for assisting with the daily upkeep of the Chicago Fire/Toyota Park data and telecom networks with a specific focus on providing support to the venue on event days.  The Information Technology Intern will also be charged with setting up and maintaining computer hardware and software.  Listed below are the responsibilities and qualifications expected of this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up telecom and data connections for Chicago Fire
  • Assist with troubleshooting server, network, desktop hardware, printer and software issues
  • Assist with event execution; responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Pre-event set-up (technology needs, broadcast and internet connections, etc.)
    • Assist with technology needs and issues during the event
    • Audio/Visual assistance
    • Post-event tear-down and cleanup
  • Assist with setting up workstation and telecom needs for all employees
  • Assist with the completion of projects supporting the execution plan of the IT Department
  • Implement facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Handle additional administrative duties related to the IT Department as assigned by the IT Manager to include such items as research and development of new IT initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to receive course credit for internship. 
  • Students should be pursuing experience in information technology, communications, sports management or a related field.
  • Must be well organized and demonstrate an ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision; must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively work with a large and diverse population.
  • Fluency in a second language is preferred.
  • Must be able to operate under extreme deadlines.
  • Must be able to work 20-30 hours per week.
  • Must be willing to work long hours, irregular schedules and weekends.
  • Must be able to work all home Chicago Fire games
  • Must have knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Windows OS and office
  • Knowledge of MAC OS and server platforms is a plus

The Chicago Fire is looking for students who are interested in gaining experience in operations and how a professional soccer club operates. Responsibilities:  The primary responsibility is to provide event and game day assistance to gain experience in the Operations Department.

Expectations: The Intern Designer position for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club is responsible for any and all creative undertakings by the club across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with any creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the club as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task.

The PrivateBank Fire Pitch is looking for a creative, hard working, individual who is interested in joining the Chicago Fire family. The Fire Pitch is the premier soccer-first facility in Chicago.

The Fire Pitch is located on the north-side of Chicago, just two miles west of Wrigley Field. The facility features two full-sized soccer fields, a state-of-the-art fitness center, bar/restaurant, events space, and an outdoor patio. 2017 Team Toyota Stadium - Game day Grounds crew - FC Dallas (Frisco, TX)

FC Dallas and Toyota stadium are looking for individuals to work on an as needed basis during the 2017 FC Dallas Soccer season.  The Game day Grounds  team will be responsible for the set-up and tear down of the field equipment  for events held at Toyota Stadium, mostly FC Dallas Home games.

Duties:

  • Perform all tasks involved in field preparation for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium events. This includes lifting, carrying and placement of items for setting up the field to include goals, flags, field boards and other items.
  • Assist with placement of the Advocare banner at mid field before the game and during half time.
  • Practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
  • Perform all tasks involved in breaking down after each event. 

Requirements:

  • Ability to work varying shifts, to include nights, weekends and holidays.  Each shift will range from 5-6 hours for FC Dallas games.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions to include extreme heat or cold.

The Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash organization is seeking two (2) Sponsorship Interns for the spring of 2018. The Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash Sponsorship Intern program provides hands-on experience with the various duties and responsibilities required to coordinate a successful professional sporting event.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Office:

  • Assisting the Partnership Marketing staff in executing all partner contractual elements
  • Support the Marketing and Dynamo Charities departments on sponsor programs and initiatives
  • Event planning and execution of partner related events at our stadium, training facility and various other venues (networking, appreciation and educational events, among others)
  • Game day execution of partner promotions and activations
  • Tracking added value for partner including, but not limited to ticket plan promotions, social media, game day giveaway promotion, etc.
  • Representing the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash at sponsored events including player and Dynamo Diesel appearances
  • Administrative tasks such as mailing, database upkeep, electronic filing, etc.
  • Set up and tear down of partner related elements at games and community events
  • Composing season recaps
  • Other duties as assigned

Game Days: Arrival time is approximately six (6) hours before kickoff (lunch provided) and departure time is approximately one (1) hour after the game ends (varies by length of postgame player meet and greets). Day of game responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Texas Street Fest Activation Area: this is the Dynamo pregame festival area where partners set up tents and have interactive games and giveaways for fans. Interns will help partners with various areas of need (i.e., logistical setup, marketing support, coordination details, etc.).

  • Partner-Branded Activation Support: provide assistance and support with implementation and coordination of activation programs for Dynamo partners; including but not limited to, Bud Light Beer Garden, etc.

  • Pre-game Ceremonies Coordination: escorting clients/fans to watch pregame warm-ups, implementing ceremonial “first kick” and client team photo.

  • Halftime Promotions: escorting guests for bubble soccer/relay race, military ceremony, etc.

  • In-game Promotions: coordinating selection of participants/winners, awarding prizes, coordinating with production team.

  • Post-Game Player Meet & Greets: help set up area (setup/teardown, coordination of player autograph signings, partner branding, etc.), along with other logistical details required to conduct program.

COMPANY GUIDELINES & REQUIREMENTS

  • Intern positions will not be scheduled to work more than twenty eight (28) hours per week under any circumstance. This includes time spent at events, matches, trainings, and in the office.

The participants will be supervised by the Academy General Manager.

·         Develop an understanding of how to manage client relationships by working with Account Managers, internal departments (sales, ad ops, content, video production, legal, design, development, and league operations) and when necessary directly with clients and agencies, to ensure successful implementation of programs

·         Learn how to use different programs such as Publishers and ShoFlo to track sponsor activation details including website banner ads placement, activation photos, emails blasts, LED signage, social media posts, etc

·         Learn to create event recaps and case studies for clients detailing the progress and success of their partnership program elements

The New York Red Bulls are one of 22 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). They are one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its founding in 1996. They currently play their home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000-seat stadium, is widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The first team features 2014 MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips, U.S. international Sacha Kljestan, and several players with USMNT experience.  The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Marketing Internship is designed to provide experience to students pursuing a career in field marketing and event planning within a sports organization. Interns focus on providing field marketing support for all New York Red Bulls events, and match-day activations at Red Bull Arena. Field Marketing Interns learn about managing event staff and event planning timelines. Field Marketing Intern reports directly to the Senior Manager, Field Marketing. During the internship, they are involved in all event preparation, staffing, venue selection, promotional planning, and special marketing projects for New York Red Bulls events.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

·         Learn how to plan and execute match days and outside events

·         Collaborate with relevant departments on joint event planning

·         Develop and assist with marketing campaigns

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

This internship is ideally suited for someone with a strong sense of event planning, sports marketing, and/or field marketing. While a strong interest in soccer and sports is not required, it is most definitely a plus!

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Event Operations Internship comprises of various duties for all events held at Red Bull Arena and others done by Red Bull New York. The goal of the operations department is to provide students with event operations experience at the premier soccer destination in North America. The candidate must be able to receive college credit as per the college’s requirements.

Interns report directly to the Event Operations Manager but also interact regularly with the entire operations staff at Red Bull Arena. During the internship, they are involved in all event preparation, set-up, logistics, breakdown, and special projects for all New York Red Bulls, New York Red Bulls II events and events at Red Bull Arena.

LEARNING OBEJECTIVES:

 Learn the ins and outs of Long-term Arena projects (inventory, business planning…etc.)

Learn what goes in to Event preparation and planning (MLS and USL matches)

Learn 3rd party event coordination

Learn what it takes for Improvement of operational processes at Red Bull Arena (Data analysis, Policies and   Procedures…etc.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Aid in the daily operation of Red Bull Arena.

- Coordinate with other Red Bull New York departments to ensure successful event planning and execution (Event Marketing, Partnerships, Premium Services, Sales, Ticketing, Fan Services, Communications, Community Relations, Academy/Training Programs, and First Team Operations).

- Assist other Red Bull Arena operations staff when support is required (Grounds, Facilities, Multimedia, Security, Cleaning, and IT)

- Liaise between event staff (Stretcher Crew, Ball Kid Supervisors and Photo Marshal).

- Locker room and team bench area equipment upgrades, inventory and purchasing.

- Streamline ordering process for event supplies and locker room product.

- Assist in developing yearly budget plan for locker room product usage and team product consumption.

- Ensure proper equipment usage and inventory tracking for radios, tables, chairs, stanchions, tents, field seats, field boards, bike racks, and all other operations marketing and event activation equipment.

-Plan and execute all USL matches held at MSU.

We expect Interns to remain flexible on both scheduling and responsibilities, and champion a team first approach to the Event Operations Internship Program.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

- Event attendance is Strongly Encouraged (weekends, weeknights and long hours are common) therefore weekday schedules are flexible, approximately 35-50 hours per week depending on events.

- Students pursuing a career in Sport Management and event/stadium operations are preferred.

- Must be able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.

- Possess a strong work ethic, take a leadership approach, and is a self-starter.

- Experienced in high stress, fast paced environments.

- Succeed in a competitive team atmosphere.

- Able to lift 30lbs, without strain.

- Comfortable being active for extended periods.

Candidates who are detail oriented, and take pride in event presentation are preferred. A passion for soccer is a plus.
