Social Media Content Producer

D.C. United are looking for a creative content producer for the Digital Media and Communications department. The content producer will work with the communications team on creating written and social content and will assist the Digital Media team with email campaigns, website management, and social media.

Job Duties:

  • Creative ability to generate engaging, entertaining social media content
  • Managing and monitor social media accounts daily
  • Work with digital media department to create and execute digital and social campaigns
  • Bring innovative and creative ideas for digital and social content
  • Manage backend of club websites to publish content
  • Monitor site traffic and analytics across all digital platforms
  • Assist digital team in creating and managing email campaigns
  • Assist in developing storylines and writing articles
  • Various game day digial and social media duties
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field. 
  • 2-3 years of experience in digital media, sports media or communications
  • Must be creative and constantly exploring new ideas for content and campaigns
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience working with website backends
  • Experience analyzing social and digital data a plus
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to travel to away games as needed and to various events around the community
  • Strong computer skills including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, CRM, and basic HTML and website management

Manager, Communications - Los Angeles Football Club (Los Angeles, CA)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Communications is responsible for various public relations activities for LAFC. This position manages sports communications, advises executives on communications strategy, and supports functional areas of LAFC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create strategies that generate fan interest and engagement in LAFC.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all media, with a strong focus in partnering with Hispanic media.
  • Strategic writer and editor who shapes public perception of the organization while upholding its values and integrity. Writing and editing duties to include, but not limited to: press releases, quote drafts, video scripts, event programs, marketing collateral, select internal and external written communications, op-eds, presentation decks, and multimedia projects.
  • Manage the development of proactive publicity via the following:
    • Serving as a stakeholder for dozens of media outlets and editorial decision makers.
    • Creating and pitching feature ideas to national and international sports media. 
    • Oversee and participate in live monitoring of MLS games and related internal and external communications. 
    • Advise on consistent and successful messaging throughout all communications, digital and marketing platforms.
  • Support LAFC executives with interview preparation, message points, and strategic messaging.
  • Assist in the coordination of interview requests for players, coaches and front office staff.
  • Manage and facilitate all media as it relates to the front office, players, coaches and game day information distribution.
  • Respond to media inquiries in a timely manner, providing background information, facilitating interviews and serving as a company spokesperson on select topics as necessary.
  • Manage editorial relationships with broadcast partners.
  • Work closely with MLS League office on communication strategy and set measurable standards of achievements.
  • Manage media operations for MLS games and non-MLS related events that take place at the stadium.
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with other departments within the organization to stay informed and up-to-date of new initiatives, program and other organization-wide events.
  • Attend industry events and trade conferences to remain current with industry changes.
  • Provide education and training to executives, players and staff regarding media relations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in public relations, marketing, sports administration or related field from an accredited College/University required.
  • 3+ years experience in public relations, communications, or marketing required, with an MLS team preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish is required, ability to read and write in Spanish preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills in English – both written and verbal.
  • Excellent public speaking skills, including the ability to be interviewed by the media.
  • Familiarity with current patterns and trends in PR, digital and social media.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced media environment and make quick decisions using sound judgment.
  • Extensive local, regional and national media contacts and demonstrated ability to place stories.
  • Effective relationships in Sports, Business, Community, and Philanthropic/Charitable media outlets/writers, both English and Spanish markets.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of media and community contacts (such as newspapers, TV, radio, social media, etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to think strategically, creatively, and in an effective manner.
  • Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Detail-oriented, driven self-motivator with a strong work ethic to get the job done.
  • Ability to anticipate issues and identify solutions to preserve the LAFC brand.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Must be able to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Digital will be responsible for the day-to-day management of LAFC.com and related Club digital platforms (including the LAFC app, BancofCaliforniaStadium.com, and LAFC.academy). The Manager, Digital will post Club news and videos, create pages, and ensure all content is current. The position will also manage Club email communications, including developing, designing, and administering campaigns. The Manager will actively contribute to content scheduling for all media channels including LAFC.com, the LAFC app, social media, email, and associated Club publications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Web:

  • Manage LAFC.com and related Club websites. Post news and videos, build pages and other content features.
  • Optimize content for search engines.
  • Implement CMS template alterations to fit Club needs.
  • Assist with the administration of web banner ads including overseeing design, scheduling and reporting.
  • Proactively look for ways to improve performance, simplify interactions, and generally improve Club website(s) and digital platforms.
  • Administer sweepstakes and contests.

Email:

  • Implement email campaigns from conception to completion.
  • Assist with the design and development of LAFC email templates.
  • Maintain email segmentation lists and rules.
  • Create messaging for Club emails.

App:

  • Update and administer LAFC mobile app content.
  • Ensure all relevant API’s and data feeds are working and displaying properly in Club app.
  • Manage app push notifications and other promotional messaging.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  • Maintain style and best practices guidelines consistently across all digital properties.
  • Develop landing pages and the trafficking of promotional/sales messages on the LAFC mobile app, websites, and other internal and external assets. 
  • Develop digital advertising campaigns to support LAFC initiatives.
  • Work closely with MLS Digital to ensure all guidelines and requirements are being met.
  • Track and report on emerging digital trends, products, and technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field from an accredited College/University required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing the digital presence of a brand or sports team.
  • Knowledge of LAFC, MLS, and Global soccer preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
  • Working knowledge of design principles, Photoshop, SEO, and SEM principles.
  • Strong familiarity with copy editing and AP style

Manager, Media Relations - New York City FC (New York, NY)

NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB OVERVIEW:

New York City Football Club is an American professional soccer team based in New York City that competes in Major League Soccer. It was announced as the league's twentieth franchise on May 21, 2013 and is the first and only Major League Soccer Club located within the five boroughs of New York City. Majority owned by City Football Group, which includes Manchester City FC, Melbourne City FC and Yokohama F. Marinos, New York City FC plays its home games at Yankee Stadium, which is also home to minority owner, the New York Yankees.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Manager of Media Relations is an integral part of the Communications department splitting time between the Front Office and the First Team training facility.  He/she will be responsible for supporting the Senior Manager of Media Relations in managing media inquiries and monitoring New York City FC media coverage. This position will oversee the distribution of all media advisories and press releases and play a vital role in developing relationships with local, national and international media. He/she will be tasked with traveling to away games, pre-season and international friendlies, when needed, and will handle certain match day deliverables at Yankee Stadium, including accreditation, stat packs and overseeing the game day staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Support the Senior Manager of Media Relations to ensure all media inquiries are responded to in a professional and timely manner
  • Coordinate media interview process from beginning to end as directed

  • Administer daily media access at the training ground and assist the Senior Manager of Media Relations on planning who will be available when

  • Integrate with the First Team and the Sporting Department and become a point person for any questions

  • Monitor all NYCFC media coverage ensuring the Communications department is aware of any issues that need to be managed

  • Send out all media advisories and press releases while coordinating with the digital team

  • Assist Senior Manager of Media Relations by identifying and executing opportunities in media relations for the academy; highlighting work being doing with NYCFC’s youth academy and affiliate clubs

  • Attend all home matches, and occasional away matches at the discretion of the Senior Manager of Media Relations

  • Travel to pre-season and international friendlies when required

  • Oversee accreditation for NYCFC matches at Yankee Stadium

  • Schedule and act as the point person for all match day staff

  • Ensure a premium match day experience for media

  • Key liaison with MLS and OPTA on production and printing of stat packs for media

  • Ensure delivery of stats packs and match-day logistics

  • Create the annual media guide and make sure it is kept up-to-date

  • Organize and keep the media contact database up-to-date

  • Work closely with the Yankee match day operations staff as delegated by the Senior Manager of Media Relations

  • Assist protocol on match day as necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS/CHARACTERISTICS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field

  • 3-5 years of experience in media relations, preferably for a professional sports team

  • Previous experience/soccer knowledge is an asset

  • Ability to work with high-profile athletes and celebrities in a professional manner

  • Comfortable traveling both nationally and internationally on a regular basis

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

  • Superior writing and editing skills

  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and professionalism

  • Outstanding communications and relationship building skills

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines; accomplish work in order of priority; professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions
