Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Area Manager (AAM) to oversee and execute youth sports programs within their assigned area. This full-time position offered by Skyhawks Minnesota provides recent college graduates with an opportunity to learn the business side of youth sports and gain firsthand experience in the operations of a successful youth sports franchise. This position will include approximately 15 to 20 hours per week of back-office responsibilities and 15 to 20 hours of coaching youth sports programs. AAM's will be actively involved in communicating with partnering organizations, inventory management, customer service, managing rosters, recruiting talent, training & allocating staff, and planning for future seasons. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, a "can-do" attitude, the ability to execute detail-oriented tasks, and a passion for youth sports.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Business Administration: You will be responsible for handling all back-end duties in your assigned area. This will include managing sports programs on our technology platform (upload and confirm program information & rosters), assisting with proposals, communicating with other organizations, and other analytical tasks. 
  • Coaching Sport Programs: You will work directly with kids (ages 2-14) in a variety of sports that we provide. AAM's are expected to coach approximately 16 hours per week, implementing our sport-specific curriculum while delivering a safe and fun experience to our participants. 
  • Staff Management: You will also take responsibility for staff members in your area, which will include training, ensuring compliance, allocations, and evaluating performance.
  • Customer Service: Our business is based on relationships. You will become proficient in how to effectively communicate, influence, and interact with all types of customers, vendors, co-workers, and – most importantly – kids. From problem solving to conflict management, you will learn how to confidently handle yourself in a variety of business and interpersonal situations. 
  • Inventory Management: Effective inventory management is essential for the smooth operation of our sports programs. You will be responsible for distributing and managing equipment in your designated areas. 
  • Technology: You will learn how to utilize our online registration and management system. You will also be expected to effectively use Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and Google (Sheets, Docs, Forms, & Mail) tools to perform a variety of responsibilities.  

Qualifications:
  • Strongly Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Education, or a related field
  • Prior sports coaching and/or childcare experience; we are looking for someone who is passionate about sports and coaching children, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in problem-solving
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort with technology.
