Overview

The Tech Services Manager position handles all video production, video displays and basic IT duties at the CURE Insurance Arena.  The position works with all departments but primarily event production and marketing to ensure all client techincal needs are satisfied for events. 

 

This role will pay a salary of $40,000 to $60,000.

Responsibilities

  • Attend production meetings at scheduled times to go over event details and other specific assignments.
  • Direct video production for all events and as main liaison for show production staff to integrate and provide video system access for arena video displays. 
  • Record and schedule audio recordings for outside arena audio loop informational messaging. 
  • Work directly with the venue event coordinators and directors to accommodate all audio/visual/IT set up and break down of meetings, indoor and outdoor events, sporting events, and all other events as directed.
  • Work with the GM/Director of Operations on all budget and capital expense improvements within the constraints of the audio and visual department.
  • Manage and provide assistance for arena IP phone system and basic technological IT support for arena personnel. Coordinate additional support with outside vendors.
  • Work directly with the Director of Operations on inventory management of all audio and visual equipment.
  • Work with Director of Operations to ensure all information technology, audio, and video troubleshooting and preventative maintenance has been addressed and document findings.
  • Schedule operation of, maintain, and repair all arena exterior and interior audio and video systems.
  • Manage, train and schedule all audio/visual support staff technicians for the venue.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing on video and photo editing for advertisements and video spots.
  • Arrive at necessary call times, schedule, and supervise pre-event duties (i.e. cam ops to set up camera in desired location; replay operator makes sure systems are ready to record event, etc). Appropriate break down and storage of all audio/visual equipment after each event.
  • Ensure that the client needs are met in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Notify Director of Operations and Director of Events about any and all technical problems and malfunctions with cameras and other equipment as soon as problem/issue is noticed.
  • Maintain a high standard of excellence in regards to appearance, public perception, customer relations, and job commitment.
  • Notify Event Coordinator/Director immediately of any and all client concerns, ideas and questions.
  • Work as liason with venue IT to plan and implement all computer upgrades for full time staff members, as well as production systems.  File tickets with Venue IT for all IT issues that cannot be fixed without their assistance.
  • Manage internal IPTV system and perform regular updates to sponsor loops and concession menus.
  • Manage Comcast cable account and assign cable boxes to desired locations for events.
  • Manage AT&T phone account and set up cell phones for new & existing employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College degree in related Technical Audio/Video field preferred
  • Preferably a minimum of 3+ years of audio/video production experience
  • Must have excellent customer service skills with a willing and pleasant attitude.
  • Must have strong communication skills in the English language with attention to detail.
  • Broadcast engineering skills with emphasis on live sports production preferred
  • Must be able to take direction, prioritize assignments, and give tasks to employees.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours; mainly evenings, weeknights, weekends and holidays.
  • Advanced computer skills including knowledge & troubleshooting techniques for Windows and Mac based computers.
  • Basic IT knowledge, with ability to be a network administrator for AV network
  • Knowledge of: Microsoft Office, Payne Sparkman, Adobe Photoshop, Daktronics Show Control & Venus Control Suite, Tricaster 2 Elite, Vitec EZTV IPTV, audio boards, and other production software.
  • Skills with soldering audio cables, crimping/compressing video & cat5 cables, and cleaning/maintaining fiber optic cables are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work independently, but still as a part of the overall team atmosphere helping promoters, tenants, clients, co-workers and managers as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a live event environment.
