The Marketing Manager will be responsible for supporting the Detroit Lions' and Ford Field's integrated brand and fan marketing plans in the US and abroad, by developing and executing marketing programming that helps meet business objectives and drives revenue.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Marketing Manager position will have daily responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:

  • Plan and implement multi-channel marketing programs and campaigns domestically and abroad.
  • Work with Ticketing, Premium and Events teams to align on Detroit Lions sales messaging to inform go to market strategy for products and maximize revenue.
  • Coordinate with Digital Marketing Manager to stand up all digital advertising campaigns.
  • Develop and oversee advertising campaigns, working internally on development of content and creative, and with third party advertising companies.
  • Work alongside the International Strategy Manager to implement the Lions’ global brand strategy and drive fandom in select international markets including responsibility for:
    • International agency relationship management
    • Brand development
    • On-site activations
    • Fan growth and acquisition
    • Influencer marketing
    • Licensed merchandising
  • Develop and manage media trades and buys with key media vendors.
  • Serve as a resource to the partnership business unit and their clients and partners in regard to the ideation and execution of marketing-related strategy including materials, experiences and activations.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, community, corporate and media partners.
  • Assist with coordination and execution of tactics to engage fans and elevate the Lions goals through NFL Tentpole events such as NFL Draft, and Detroit Lions events such as Training Camp
  • Track spends and process invoices against the departmental budget.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Will adjust work schedule to meet departmental demands, including being available to work a non-standard schedule in support of international travel, football operations, events, and other Marketing activities, including holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

 QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of prior experience in advertising/marketing/international marketing for a professional sports team, agency, or brand.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Journalism or related fields.
  • Previous experience with a professional sports team preferred.
  • Previous experience with international relations strongly preferred.
  • Previous multi-functional agency experience required.
  • Strong presentations skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to connect with, and relate to, all levels of staff, management, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to multi-task and think quickly on one’s feet using independent judgment.
  • Proficient in computer programs including; MS Excel, MS Word, MS power-point, MS Publisher and Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.
  • Strong strategic thinker and problem solver with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience planning and implementing large and small events.
  • Team oriented attitude, relationship building, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holiday.
  • Must be able to travel internationally at least 4-6 times per year and have a valid passport.
  • May require work out of both the Ford Field Management Office and the Allen Park Training Facility.
  • A valid Driver’s License and good driving record.
